If lets say you already had a 400EX with a decent suspension setup and 450r brakes. Could you do the CRF engine conversion for less than $3000? Reason I ask is 04-05 450s can typically be picked up around here for 3000 to 3500 but most have no suspension,a-arms,axle,etc.They seem to just have a pipe and cam if any mods. Thanks

U could sell your 440 for about 800-1000 pick up a 426-450 for about $1000 and pick up after market frame for $1000-1500 and you should have all of the parts to fit might have to get exhaust custom fit tho!!! Should def. be under $3000

Do some research on this site..... it has a lot of good articles

Or just sell your 400 and pick up this... i think the guy is wanting $3500 for it. Which is a pretty good deal. Or do what Kevin300A said... either way you should be under $3k when its done...

I am posting this for a friend but he is parting out his crf hybrid. If you have the chassis he has all the other parts to make your hybrid. Here are some pics, I dont know the full details of the motor but I do know it has a fresh valve job done with stainless valves and a new carb. all electrics, radiator, pipe to fit chassis and if you choose a lighting coil and flywheel for night time dune riding. give him a call and he can give you the details. He has limited internet access so call him and talk to him. Oh and this will definitely fall under the 3 grand mark too.

Thanks guys. Unfortunatley I can't get into anything right now, but that quad would be nice. I'm slowly putting my 400's suspension together piece by piece. I'd hate to get it finished just to buy a 450 and have to start over. I've read through quite a few posts on here and think I have sorta figured out the pieces I need but don't see too much talk about the cost of the basic conversion.

I'm probably about a year and a half out before I can actually start the conversion or I would jump on some of that stuff. I got to get another vehicle for the wife first. I just hate to dump more money into the EX to just sell it and rebuy everthing again for a 450 so I'm mainly feeling out my options. Thanks for the heads up though.
