I installed a Athena big bore kit (493cc)on my K8. The quad feels weaker than my K7 standard quad. I took it to the dyno to install the Power commander and the guy who tested it says that I will have to run a higher octane fuel, because I am getting something like pre-ignition. The kit has a 13.1 : 1 compression ratio. Have anyone had the same problems?? I am running pump gas unleaded 95.

that not even enough octane that they recomend you to run on a stock ltr. recomened amount is 97-98. and you probaly shjould use even high octane rating for you bore kit too

you need to run race fuel with a 13:1 piston 110 112 octane

We only get 98 octane race fuel max in South Africa. Our pump fuel goes up tp 95 octane max next to the coast, inland only 93 octane. We manage to sort out the pinging (ignition) problem with NF octane booster. The horsepower is on 52 now with the big bore kit, head ported, power commander 3 and Dasa pipe. Torque is on about 42 NM. The AF ratio is set on 13 below 7000 rpm and on 12.8 from 7000rpm up. Dont know what you guys run.It is set little bit richer to keep the piston cool for our offroad racing, where you are at wide open throttle for 5km or so on some stretches.Dont know if it makes sence ,but lets hear from the experts!!!

Friend has that kit with porting etc and it runs just fine on 95 for what its worth !

It only did that after getting really hot on the dino(about 2 hour test),but in any case it is sorted now.
