I just bought some used plastics and they are kind of beat up. i was wondering how i should go about repairing a few hairline cracks and melted spots. Should i get a plastic welder or will a stong epoxy do?

Anybody???

first off what color are the plastics?
Second how much time do you want to spend on them?
third how much more money do you want to invest?
Fixin plastics is time consuming and can be a pain in the butt. Keep in mind that they will not looks new but you can get them close.

IF there not really that bad like the stuff doesnt stand out, wth? its just a 4wheeler its not ganna be perfect u just gota learn to deal with those cracks and scrachs.

start with a 400 grit to get all the deep scratches
then a 5-600 grit to smooth it out
next an 800 grit
finally an 1000-2000 grit
remember the elbow grease
if the 400 doesnt get the deep scratches out use 200 or 300
as far as the cracks and melted spots I have been told that a heat gun does wonders, but if the cracks are to deep you may want to us an epoxy or gorrilla glue. Hope this helps. Remember it wont be new but it will look a ton better. Hope this helps good luck and remember have fun

I've read that once plastic is sanded smooth that applying Mop-N-Glow works really well, has anybody heard this? does it work and make the plastic shine and will it hold up to normal riding and washing dirt off quad afterwards?

i wouldnt use epoxy because it doesnt flex very much. it will crack if you accidently sit on the fender

I tried the sanding method started with 400 and progressed to 1000 and the scratches are gone but now where I sanded it the red plastic has a white haze to it? I spray it with cleaner/polisher looks great the wh n the polish dries goes back to white....even tried WD40 and pledge, again looks great until the spray dries.
Did I do something wrong?

you could try cleaning it with a toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol, or possibly some acetone,
(but try/test the acetone on a unseen area on the underside first).
then try the Pledge Floor Shine.

will do.....thanks
