hey im thinking about buying this one hybrid my friend is selling he said it needs a longer swingarm cuz on the holeshot it will either wheelie or spin out its a 400ex chassis and a crf450r engine does it need a swingarm? and if so how long ?

a longer swinger may help, but may not be the real answer. It could be all the rider. Poor body postioning or rider input with the clutch could lead to a poor start, or excessive wheeling/spinning. Also, another huge factor is suspension set up. If the bike is set-up incorrectly, it will do the same things. Alot of pros run shorter swingers on TT quads, and seem to have no problem pulling amazing holeshots- with little wheel spin, and little to no wheelie

thats true im testin it out this weekend so ill put it through its paces and check into all the possibilities b4 buyin a swinger

i think you guys think im racing tt im not i race mx :P
so i think i would need a +2 swinger cuz the 400ex wheelbase is 47.9 inchs and the trx450 wheelbase is 50.2 so i would basicly need a +2 swinger right?

I know you prolly got a-arms on it already an so on. We had this problem with a fully decked out 250r we built, it had way too much wheel spin an would stand up on the snap of the fingers. So we redid things, instead of making the back end longer we put +1 forward a-arms on it an it balanced it better. I use too race mx on a 400ex until i got a 450r, an i had the same problems your having, even though i never got around too fixing them i still believe i would have put forward a-arms on it instead of a longer swingarm. Also we had a z400 we mx'd an it had a +2 swingarm on it, an it really felt like it killed you in the air, an even know there hard too maneuver in the air stock, with a +2 swingarm it was alot worse.

Just my opinions.

I would run some kind of aftermarket suspension in the front, front racing shocks should have about 2-4 inches of sag so that when ur pulling out of the gate or out of corners the suspension will raise up and ur front end will stay on the ground

I have a +4 on mine and I can stand it up in 4th if I wanted. I can imagine having a standard length swinger. The +4 rides very nice for the dunes.

we ran axis 8 click triple rate rebound, compression adjustable an all that stuff, they were full sat up for a A class mx rider.
