I have an 07 Rancher 420 4x4 and have some play side to side in the rear axle. Was thinking of just tightening the jam nuts on the ends but dont know how much. any suggestions?

The way u talk sounds like the rear axel bearings

what's gonna happen if you tighten those nuts is you're gonna eventually burn out your bearing housings, because your bearings are shot and they will quickly get chewed up and fall apart from the friction of the axle play. and when you decide to tear it down and replace your bearings you're also gonna need to replace the carrier, and not only that but most likely you'll have to burn the old races out using a torch. i suggest fix it the right way now and save yourself the headache later. trust me once it starts to chew at hardened metal you are getting into the big bucks quickly.
