How do i clean my Outerwear Pre-Filter?

I have a K&N air filter on my Z400 with an "Outerwear" Pre-Filter. I have the K&N Recharger kit to clean the filter, but what is the best way to clean the Pre-Filter?

I always use the k&n cleaning spray then rinse it out and let it dry.

I soak my outerwears in a bucket of hot water with simple green in it for about 30 minutes. Then rinse it out with warm water. It seams to work great.
