what kind of tether switch would i need? an open or close one. cause i heard the one that the one that hooks up and ground out the ciol fries the cdi. i want the one that hooks up the the original kill switch.
so is that the open or closed type???

go with a gunner normally open for the ltr...easiest to put on if your not sure about electrical

Or you could buy a normally closed one and hook it up to one of the wires going to your key!! THat's what I have and I bought the Tusk one for $20 from rmatv

if its one of the ones that has the rubber cap on top that pushes down the plunger...there ok but ive run into them pooping off on big jump landers...so just be careful its not fun getting landed on ...no on the other hand if you wanted to wire it that way (nornally closed) then you could use a pingel teather there kinda gay looking but there better than the rubber cap ones

The one that I got from rmatv looks just like the pro armor ones. Not the rubber plunger thing like you're talking about

hmm havent run into that one yet then

so i just bought a pro armour kill switch and im not sure how or what wires to hook it up to.
and im afraid to fry my cdi cause i heard that could happen if its hooked up wrong

id advise getting a gunner...with that one you simply cut the orange wire on the harness splice the tether wires to the cut wires and hook up the ground and your off

Posted by: kfx400rider03

well i already bought one and i kinda dont want to buy another one so how can i hook this tether swich up

Posted by: rmfhobson

Is it a normally open or normally closed. I know they make both because the one that's on my cousins yfz is normally closed, and yes I did ohm it with a meter.

Posted by: miles Machine

well for yours to work it need s to be a normally closed and splice it in between the orange wire going from your handle bars

Posted by: kfx400rider03

i think mine is a noramly open cause swhen i hook it up to the orange wires it work backward. when the swich isnt pulled it wont work and soon as u pull the swich u here the fuel pump turn on and the other 2 lights come on.

I see a lot of pros have their tethers right in the middle of their bars right below their bar pads. Anyone know how they do this?

This is what my uncle has it looks good, and it's not to terrible of a way to mount your kill switch like you were talking about
