Cutting plastic to cool exhaust

I was wondering if I was to cut the plastic on the back side of the radiator on the exhaust side, if it would allow more air to go by in turn keeping my leg from feeling like its on fire. Maybe I should get heat tape. What do you guys think about cutting the plastic and if it would help if you know where I'm talking about.

No... it just radiates off a lot of heat and the header bend arcs way out there...
Header wrap is cheap and easy.
I plan to do mine soon.

You don't think by allowing the air to move across the pipe and moving the heat away it would be cooler there?

No... because it is murder on that side when the fan kicks on.
I think wrapping it will yield the most results.
An aftermarket pipe of different material with a sleeker bend might help, but I don't think as much as a wrap would.

I did put an aftermarket pipe and exhaust but like you said it is hot as hell. So heat tape would be the only way to go.

I figured so, because my 400EX w/aftermarket is murder too.
Not as bad on the exhaust as the 450, but a roaster on BOTH sides... air cooling sucks.
