Just got my 400ex 3weeks ago. Tryin to break it in lightly and was riddin today and rear end kept lockin up. Kept ridding and then i couldnt shift out of 1st. then got in to N and thats it 1st and N. so i rode it home in 1st gear and smoke was pourin all over and gear oil all over the place.. and the motor now sounds like its about to blow up. I sure hope they just give me a brand new one or im going to tell them to keep it!!

Mine did something like that about 5 months after I bought it. The tranny locked up, and I had to take the chain off to get it home. No broken cases though. They said the seal on the countershaft was not seated properly. It happened just a few weeks before the warranty expired. I was lucky.

yeah that happen to me on my 300ex. i was ridin and the chain locked up by the front sprocket and took a chunk of the case out. luckly nothing inside was visible and its all good.
