My riding partner's 525 quit suddenly yesterday at a poker run in pennsylvania.Had to be towed in after only ten or so miles.After checking everything via mutimeter we GUESSED the coil was at fault.We simply pulled the one off my 525 and installed on the dead quad.Started instantly,what luck!!! Our XC's are about 18 months old and are used pretty regularly.We haven't had any other engine problems and I was wondering if any of you have heard this to be a frequent repair? We accept the ball joints and steering stem bushings and brakes and heavy thumb throttle as small potatoes for such a great quad.

the puse coil went on mine, chased the problem for a month during race aeson last year, would run for 10 or 15, then quit, check for fire, none. 20 mins later, tons of fire. dealer couldent really help me, had to take it out of province to get it fixed. ktm did not warranty anything yet.

meant to thank you for the reply but got caught up in my own "stuff" so here's thanks and I hope we both never suffer the problem again.

I had mine not even a day and my cdi box quit out on me. It happened on the trails I ride. It ticked me off so bad. I thought it was the coil too so I took it to the shop and they told me it was the cdi box.
