We race a modded Apex but my son is to hard on our stockers (90 Scrambler, Extreme 100) that he breaks frames and other stuff. I can get a good deal on a Typhoon 125, it has a manual tranny. I thought they came with a 3 or 4 speed auto? Thinking it would be good for him to learn on with a clutch. Do they hold up? He isn't a big kid, will he be able to pull in the clutch good enough to run the bike? Thanks for any help

Also whats the Typhoon extream avanti 125? Is it a cheaper knock off?

If it's a cheap Knockoff it's not an Xtreme Typhoon. In the 07 and newer models the Typhoon frames were less prone to have problems. The 06's had issues. Don't know what motor the knockoff your has in it but hopefully it a more durable one. If you can find this out maybe I could give you more answers.

Not sure I've just seen pics of it so far, all I know is that it looks like a typhoon but the front plastics are solid and it don't have the hole in the nose like the ones i see on here. It also says Avanti on the seat

yep it was orange. Got rid of it and bought a real Xtreme 125 because was told by dealer it would beat Apex, well now he wants to get rid of it and get an Apex.

Yeah not to bash Extreme but straight out of the box with no mods they would never beat an Apex, I would like to come across one at a race with mods and see how they run. I was thinking of one before I went Apex but we all know by time your done with them, no matter what brand it is you could pay off half of your house with the cash you have in them

Stock these motors won't run with Apex or Drr. But if you get the right setup they'll run with built Apex's and Drr's with no problem. Here's Jam on the Orange bike taking 3rd in this holeshot. There are some nicely built 2 strokes in this vid. Jam is the only thumper on the line.
