Rebuilding a 250ex motor..and got a new cam..how do i align it? most small motors you align then dot to dot or something close to that..but i dont seeing any signs of how its supposed to alined or times?

Some times there is a small hole or triangle stamped on it.And it might have to be pointed down.I have had some luck calling the dealer service dept. And asking for information.Good luck to you.

The cam turns 2 times for every 1 time of the crack shaft. You could be 180 deg off. Pull the rear cover on the rear of motor. The three bolts. And you will see a bolt. Then remove the the timing window cap and spark plug. Turn the bolt till you see the T mark aline with the the mark in the hole of the timing cap hole. With the rocker arm cover removed you should have the set free play of the valve set ajustment. If not turn 1 more time around. If you set your cam timing right this should work. Good luck.
