Alright i figure its about time we start learning about the Cr motor. Are any of the parts that you guys know of the same? I wonder about the crank, right case half, tranny and clutch.
Anyone got anything they know will work or have heard will work?

The 1985-2001 CR250 connecting rod is the same as the 1986 ATC/TRX250R "short rod". Nik's Pro-X makes the replacement rod kit, sold through Rocky Mt. ATV among others.
The CR250 crankshaft will NOT work on the TRX250R, one half is different because of the counterbalancer. This also means the CR250 cases will NOT work on the TRX250R, because the CR250 has NO counterbalancer. (Meaning a LOT of vibration in the quad chassis, just like installing a CR500 engine in the quad chassis).

isint the cr 250 rod like titanium or something? lighter than the standard 250r rod?

Not the 1985-2001 CR250. It is the same rod as what came in the 1986 ATC/TRX250R (short rod dimensions).

ok thats pretty good to know, but what about the clutch? any tranny gears? such as the countershaft 3rd that always seems to be bad on the 250r?

The clutch in a 250R is much smaller in diameter than the CR250, which really doesn't make sense to me. It may be closer to a 125. I don't think anything in the transmission except for misc. washers and bolts will interchange. If any internals will fit, it would probably be from 84-91 CR models, which the 250R engine was based off of.

88-91 cr250 cylinder will work with special spacer and studs and block off powervalve. www.ftzracing.com
