Vinson shifter stuck

I have an '02 Vinson 500. The shifter is getting stuck in gear. The gear box was loose and I tightened up the bolt, but now once I put it in High gear, it doesn't want to come out. I can move it into the Park position, but it doesn't register....as if it's not sure if it's High or Park. Any help???
