Got to ride a KFX today!

a buddy of mine just got it, and i got to take it for a spin,,,since it was new, i took it easy,,,it feels good, but the footpegs feel like they are 2 to 3" too high, i felt like my knees were under my chin,,,it felt great putting it in reverse and BACKING UP!, hehe,,,can't wait till it's broken in where i can ride it some more, all though i was flattered when (after he rode mine) he said that mine scared him, hehe, lol,,,later

The kfx and the z are suprisingly not identical like most (including me) thought. The kfx sits .1" lower and the seat is .1" lower. The only other difference is that the gas tank holds .1 more gallons than the z's. Besides that, put green plastics on a z, slap a kawisaki sign on it, and u got urself a kfx.

What are you smoking? Other than the color and the decals and the black hood over the plastic, they are the same.

Don't take this as gospel but I read over at z400central that Kawie decided to use a different axle than the Z.

Look in atvsports atv buyers guid for this year and compair. or compair from kawis website to zukis. belive me i just looked throught it. i said point one of an inch not one inch.

It is a mis-print. I recall reading that the Z had a 12.2:1 compression ratio too. NOT.

they are the same suzuki makes both bikes on the same production line but some get different plastics

i've read that the angle of the front plastic is different angles on the KFX, other than that i dunno,,,

The KFX uses a black hood that goes over the headlights. The plastic underneath seems to be identical.

He right, this info is taken from the new issue of ATV Soort:

KFX: Front wheel travel 8.3
Z: Front wheel travel 8.5/with adjustable shocks.

KFX: Fuel tank holds 2.7 gallons
Z: Fuel tank holds 2.6

KFX: Width is 45.3
Z: Width is 45.9

KFX: Seat height is 31.2
Z: Seat height is 31.9

KFX: Ground clearance is 10.3
Z: Ground clearance is 10.4

KFX: Dry weight is 370
Z: Dry weight is 372

KFX: Doesnt say if rear shock is adjustable
Z: Does say the the rear shock is adjustable

No need to argue anymore if the quads are exactly the same or not. (believe me, I thought they were the same also. i didnt believe they were different and thats why I pulled the mag out)

All that proves is that the writers for the magazine aint got a clue. I recalling seeing an ad for graphics that said available for 87' thru 03' Raptors. That doesnt mean it is true.

you guys are all taking this from one mag so i will take it from another any of you guys read dirt wheels (i dont beleve every thing dirt wheels says) but thet did a test on the kfx and on the kfx frame it says made by zusuki

ps this is out of the january 2003

yep they are definately the same animal. just different colors. the black hood is just an extra piece of plastic, i have it on my Z400 and it lined up perfectly.
