okay, i am thinking about taking a red taillight off of a 300ex, and turning it upside down (like a U), and filling it with plaster-a-paris, and then once that dries, pour hot clear plastic over it. and letting that dry. then just buying a red light bulb. so what do yall think about it. KP

Posted by: lilpoppy

that sounds cool to me. Post a pic when you are done.

Posted by: KP's lil'300

Posted by: lilpoppy

Ya i broke my tail light so if they turn out allright i might buy one off ya.

Posted by: KP's lil'300

i might already have one sold, heck ya!! KP

Posted by: KP's lil'300

I went out to the barn, and I took my light off. Now I cannot get the red part and the white part seperated, argh !! so does anyone know how to get this thing apart, crap... who would have thought of such a way to put a plastic piece and a gosh darn taillight together so good that it is amost impossible to get it off. oh well I just had to vent a little . KP

Posted by: KP's lil'300

BUMP!!!
has anyone got a taillight cover that I can buy off of you. thanks KP

Posted by: KP's lil'300

BUMP!!!!
anyone??

Posted by: OCCRA288

the two pieces are glued together. You have to heat them with a blowdryer of even stick it in the oven for a few minutes.

Posted by: KP's lil'300

thanks OCCRA ive got to go try it now. KP

Posted by: bigbadbrad

yes they are sealed so no water gets in to it and shorts it out

Posted by: KP's lil'300

BUMP!!!

Posted by: lilpoppy

Hows it goin with those things. You got s prototype ready yet?

Posted by: KP's lil'300

nope no taillight just yet, I still dont have a taillight that I can break into. Cause I really dont want to screw mine up. KP

Posted by: lilpoppy

i see them on e-bay all the time. A lot of people take them off when they race.

Posted by: HiperEX

yeah ebay or u can try service honda or planet honda, you just need the light cover right? if you ever do get this done posts some pics i think it would look pretty trick i will prolly buy one from ya if you do plan to sell some

I know a guy who can probably make a mold for you, or if they (clear tailights) are greatly desired, he'll probably start making them and selling them himself. Molds are NOT cheap. He OWNS the patent on motorcycle clear lenses. His company is the only place in the WORLD that can make them and sell them. I know for a fact a mold for a clear lense cost near $10,000. Yes, I said $10,000. This guy is cool. The company's name is Clear Alternatives. ( www.clearalternatives.com ) It's located in Sandwich, Massachusetts for anyone who wishes to call 411 to get the number.

Posted by: lilpoppy

What are you talking about? 10,000$ for what? He is gonna try to make some lights just for fun i dont know what some 10000$ lenses have to do with it.

Posted by: siberthugd

Dang lilpoppy... all defensive, huh? All I was saying was that the mold for him to make a lense for a speific application costs him about $10,000. So if we called and there was a big enough demand for it, he'd probably have a mold made. He sells the actual lenses (which is the whole sealed housing and a red bulb) for about $50 to $150, depending on application.

Posted by: lilpoppy

Sorry for sounding defensive but you made no sense. It sounded to me like you were saying KP's lil'300 was breaking this guy patent or something and i was just stating that he was just messing around with the idea. The 10,000$ was just a little confusing. Anywase there is no way in **** i will ever spend 100-150$ and a tail light for my quad. No offense intended.

Posted by: siberthugd

no offense taken... I wouldn't spend it either, but a lot of people probably would... Thats why I tossed out the idea and info...

Posted by: KP's lil'300

well, since I have pretty much given up on the idea of haveing the stock shape, I have decided that I am just going to make one from scratch. thanks for the help lil poppy and siberthug, ill still keep 'ya updated, KP
