what kind of quad?
from what i hear, synthetic oils are all the rage right now

there are a couple of good oil brands out there, search around on the internet to find a specific one for what mods/motor etc. you have

I XC race my '07 Raptor 700 and use Red Line Racing 40wt. I called Red Line and followed their oil recommendation. The engine is very smooth, good clutch feel and excellent gear protection. I have sent in four oil samples over last season to check how the oil is doing and how well it's protecting the engine...the results were fantastic, very low wear metals and the oil didn't shear too badly during a race weekend.

Anyone ever use Panolin or Kal Guard? Or know anything about them?

AMSOIL is a very popular synthetic oil. Lots of racers are using it.

Ye Synthetic oil is the most popular now days, and AMSOIL is probably the most popular but I just use valvoline oil, I personally did not like synthetic oil but im not a racer, I just buy the Valvoline oil, $15 for a 2 gallon jug, compared to Honda oil which is $50 for the same amount, and synthetic which is probably 75+, and you can't really go wrong with Valvoline.

Amsoil is the way to go but if you are racing on a budget maybe go with a syn blen like maxim. I change oil after every race and if I paid for oil it would cost about $24 an oil change most synthetics cost $10 to $ 15 so i guess it comes down to what you can afford.

AMSOIL, or Mobil 1. 10W-40.
Changed every 5-10hrs for worry free assurance.

i always ran bel-ray thumper in my stock motors, but went with redline for the 14:1 compression.

and went to rotella in the white jug for the trans side
