Hi, so im working on my daughters quad and I purchased a set of Work shocks setup for her weight from on here.. and she had said that they DO feel softer, but watching her ride when she hits bumps she shifts all over the place and it just looks like she is going to fly off the trail... shes running everything stock (including tires) with the exception of the work shocks.. any ideas? help? The shocks are setup at the softest settings.. Any suggestions please? She seems to want to go faster and faster everytime we go out, but it just seems like her quad is limiting her

The problem I have seen with the single A-arm mini's, is that they have ALOT of bump steer and only gets worse with softer shocks that allow more travel in the frontend. The geometry problem is that the tieords are too long and push the front of the tire, or toes in, the alignment apon compression. Since you can't lower the stem mount, you have to raise the spindle mounts 3/4 - 1" higher, inorder to get rid of this. If you use standard rod ends insted of ball joints, a spcer can be made to do this.

so you are saying if I use this spacer, I will eliminate the bump steer? where can I get this spacer?

This is the best picture I can find right now. You can use 3/8" or 10 mm rod ends to do this. The vertical carbon fiber spacer under the rod end, could be made out of aluminum or steel.

$5.39 ea at McMaster Carr 2458K141 over 4000 lb load rating. There are 18 other 3/8" rod ends to choose from if you want something different.

ok, im confused.. in the first suggestion you suggested 2 other ball joints... and in your recent post you suggested 2 others, do I need all 4? what all exactly should I purchase...

sorry for being so dumb about this.. and basically if I understand this corrrectly, if you raise the tie rode angle where it connects by the wheels this will eliminate the bump steer?

The stock rod ends on your Polaris are female style (Honda) that takes a solid threaded rod to connect the inner (steering stem) and the outer rod ends (spindle). These rod ends also have built it studs that insert into the stem and spindle and a nut clamps them in place. What you need is a rod end that has a hole in it, so that you can place a bolt though the spindle and place a spacer tube onto it, and then your rod end so it will lift up the height of it off of the spindle. This will in effect shorten your tierod length in relationship to your a-arm length and will reduce the inward bumpsteer that happens when you compress the suspension.

Since the rodends I suggested are male style (Yamaha) and will not work with your tie rods, you will need to make or buy 2 tube style tierods. You will also need 2 male style rod ends to attach to the steering stem.

These just are easier to mount than having to make tiny spacers and bolting them.
