Hello
I would first like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am writing to you because I need help.
On December 21, 2008 my husband of twenty years had a heart attack and passed away at age 44. He left behind two children, Melissa (age 17) and Mikey (age 8). His passing has been devastating to us. We are trying to put the pieces back together of our lives.
As a single mother there are many responsibilities that my husband handled that I am trying to do. One of these responsibilities is to my son and his love for racing ATV. I realize that this is considered a “luxury” and not a necessity. Certainly, my son doesn’t have to race but I know that my husband would want him to continue racing. Mikey loves racing, he loves riding his quad, he loves the excitement of the whole race day.
I don’t know how I am going to be able to afford or even maintain my son’s ATV but I am going to try my hardest. This is why I am reaching out to you. I am going to need help. Anything that you can do to help would be appreciated, even if it’s just advice.
Thank you,
Lisa Voorhees

We have a lot of good families in this sport and on this forum board...
Let us know what you need and we will surely do our best to make sure your son makes it to the track as his father would have wanted.

Post some pics and we can see what mods you have and need.

Thank you all for replying. Let me give you some more details. We live in New Jersey and race District 6 (Englishtown, DMX, Miles MTN, etc). My son is racing a DRR 90 modified. The only things my husband had planned to improve this year on the bike was:
more take off power at the starting line (which I believe he was talking sprockets) and nerf bars (??). I also am going to need a small trailer to put the quad on since I can't lift the quad into the back of the pick up truck. I know we could get ramps but I don't want my son driving it up and I won't (im a chicken!)
I am also looking for help with entrance fees.
I will post some pictures shortly. Thanks again. Lisa

I just e-mail the link to this post to Cory at Kool Kidz ATV in Jersey and ask to please help in any way he can.
There are a lot of good people on this forum......we are a family and we will help you any way we can.
Your son will race if I have to drive down there and take him to the track myself.
Please keep us posted on what you need.

Thanks Mike.
I have already spoken to Lisa and I offered her free labor to maintain/repair the ATV. I will be able to help her at the track also. They only live a half an hour from me. I don't recall the mods done to it off the top of my head but will post some info later.
Her son Mikey has a 2008 DRX 70 H20.
I know we just put a Polini H20 kit on it after the season and a few other things.

Just letting you guys know whats going on with their DRR. Basically Mikey just started racing mid season last year.
Other than some basic clutch mods, Uni filter and in November his dad purchased a new polini cylinder kit. I will get the bike in as soon as Lisa can get it to me and I will let her know what she could use.
Mikey is still getting used to the bike and his dad wanted to step him up a little at a time. Hence the polini kit over the winter.
In thinking about this, I kinda came up with a funny story most of you have seen before. Since many of you guys have been around for many years.
I met Mike after he was refered by a guy who smoked him at the track. Mike does his research like any good parent and came up with the DRR as a logical choice. We got him hooked up with his new machine and Mikey started do better.
Second time?? Mike pulled his quad of the truck at a race. Happy ready to go racing, all smiles, dad and son. Very friendly to everybody! Just couldn't wait to get on that track.
Ever see that puzzled look on a new racer dads face after one of their 1st races and things didn't go right??
Quad wasn't running right, tried everything, gave him suggestions on things to check, nothing, still going nuts. (FYI Mike was Diesel Mech I beleive) Mikey comes over and tells me his dad is "confussed" and could I help. I go over, Mike says, Cory, I just don't get it......I've...
With sorry puppy eyes.
What stupid thing gets everybody once in awhile?? (it was full of gas, not that)
When I showed him he throws the head down and just let out a big sigh.....I feel like a complete idiot...I told him not to because it happens to everyone and laughed.
Anyway you guys see if you can guess what it was. (simple)
It just goes to show you how you retain little (good) memories from people in such a short time. I hardly new Mike but, I remember his smile.

Yup been there.
Do they exclusively race on one track?
Posted by: Kool Kidz
Riding4fun they will be riding4fun. I spoke to Lisa today and she wants to do this locally for fun, not racing a series. Just wants her son to maintain the connection he had with his dad.
He is having a hard time. She is doing her best and we need to help her out. Very sad...........I feel for him.
She is bringing the quad over this weekend and I'll give her a list of things she may need.
She really appreciates everybody helping out.

OK, let us know.

Post the list.....I don't have much left but I got some stuff.
Mike Kozura

Yea I'm in to Cory, I have alot of stuff laying around and alot of spare parts in the trailer, so just let us know and I'm sure between all of us we can get her and her son out on the track and keep it going for them.

Great job cory

Ok, through the local relay team the ATV showed up, haha.
Just so you guys know, they are not running a series, just local fun stuff.
The dirt on the quad:
Stock tires and wheels
Stock floor boards
Stock Carb
Stock Pipe
Polini H20 Kit installed
Kill switch Installed
Basic Clutch Components Installed
Uni installed.
The quad is in good condition only has a small crack in the rear plastic, it is still functional. It runs well and Mike is not using all the power it has yet.
Overall to get Mikey to the 1st race, I will tune up the clutch and carb. Cylinder kit is brand new.
Nice on the Trailer Wolfpack. Lisa has a large landscape trailer she is going to sell, if she can. She has a jeep compass as her tow vehicle (small). She wants a small easy to tow, I reccomended she look for a 5x8 landscape style with a ramp so she can load it easier.
Let me know if you guys have questions.

We just have to get it to them???? Anyone traveling that way and could haul it?
you guys are in Indiana right? I would be willing to drive out that way so far and meet somebody and bring it back this way. Maybe we can get a relay team togeather and keep relaying until it gets to them. I live approx. 60 miles south of Pittsburgh, only about 20 miles south of Interstate 70. Let me know if we can get the people togeather to relay it out to them. It's about a six hour drive from my house out to around where Cory is and a six hour drive from my house to Indianapolis so that give everybody an idea what we need to accomplish.

Cory, I know this don't help much for parts, but if they want to dress it up a bit, Myself and Mike both do powdercoating now, so if they want to dress it up a bit I will powdercoat any parts they want done. I know thats not much but thought I would throw it out there.

Is Lou/ DRR in Brunswick, Oh? If so I could probably drive out and pick it up and get it back this way. It's around 200 miles out to Brunswick from my house.

sizes and what colors the quad is or what he would like..
brandonsdad55@yahoo.com
I don't know about you guy's but this really hit home after reading
this. I'm glad we came up with this idea i'm looking forward to
hooking up the little guy. you have to look good when your going
fast.
Glad to see cory on the site finally, he will have his quad rippin in
no time. can't tell you how much he has helped us over the years.
I don't have any of the spare parts for the list but i'm sure he will
have boxes of stuff showing up from members.
Brandons first question is what is his number?
he remembers everyones number for some reason.

You guys are on the ball! If Lisa does not have a trailer for their 1st race I will get them there.
Wolfpack-
She is using a Jeep Compass to tow, it is a small vehicle, like a heavy duty station wagon.
The trailer has to be small. I am keeping my I out for her around here also.

hey everyone~ i want to tell each every one of you how much you have touched our hearts. we pop on here every day to read your comments...and it makes us sometimes cry and sometimes laugh (and when i say we, i mean mikey and me).
DETAILS: i drive a jeep patriot 4 cyl, not a compass. i am looking for a lightweight trailer. i have no idea the tow capacity but i am sure you guys know what it is capable of towing.
As far as Mikey's size he wear size 10 pants and medium shirts. Color of his bike is white with blue seat (which he hates). His helmet is red and black and generally those are colors he likes. His boots are black. i haven't decided which races we are going to, but certainly raceway, sleepy and dmx.
I TRUELY APPRECIATE everything you are doing for us, and hope one day i can repay the favors! You are all a great group of people. THANK YOU!

I think I speak for all of us when I say we are all glad to help as much as we can, there is no need for repay, just knowing that you son will be able to get to the track and do what he loves is payment enough.
If you think that this trailer will work for you, just let Wolfpack know and we will do what we can to get it to you, He said he could get it to Ohio, I can get it from there to southwestern Pa, or a little further, and I'm sure we can figrure it out to get it the rest of the way to you.
Anytime you have any questions just post it up and myself and all the other great people on here will help as much as we can, plus you got Cory close to you, Cory is a heck of a guy, your in good hands.

Sorry I have not been on here much lately. I am swamped right now. I was talking to Lisa and she loves what you guys are doing for them. She did not know what she needs.
Heath Nichols Purchased new rear wheels for the ATV
I had some almost new rear snowhogs laying around that I threw on.
I am tuning the clutch and the carb. The new Polini cylinder is ready to go so nothing need there.
Here are somethings that the quad could use:
-Front Wheels
-Nerf Bars
-Some additional clutch springs and rollers for the season (4.5g and 1500 Malossi)
-Couple single ring 47.6 rings and maybe piston for the season.
-As much BLING as you guys want to add.
Ernie (FTR) I have been meaning to get in touch with you. DRX 70 White Plastic, blue seat and frame #437. If you could, could you incorporate everybody on here helping out as a sponsor into the graphics? I think that would be pretty cool, since alot are helping out.
Cory

We have been swamped here at the shop and this is the first oppurtunity I have had to read this thread, and it sounds like everyone has stepped up and really met the needs .
I have a set of used bolt on Rath nerf bars that I can send if you still need them,(one of these guys may powdercoat them to make them look new again), let me know . And I think Lisa said Mikey hates the blue seat cover , I can ship you a new black seat cover and this may allow you to use your favorite colors(red and white) on the new graphics. Do these things need to go to your shop Corey ?you guys give me the go ahead and I will ship out tommo0row.

Hey Cory and Mark, if the nerfs need powdercoated just let me know what color and get them sent up to me and I can take care of the powdercoating. Heres a pic of some wheels I just did for a guy for his LTR 450. Just let me know.

thats great Kevin, we will wait for a reply from Lisa or Corey. I also spoke with James at ZTR and he is going to supply a new ZTR tensioner for Mikey's bike, I will send it in the same box .
marc
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
That all sounds good to me, but I will check with Cory and get back to you. Mikey is so VERY excited that the blue seat will be history....he HATES blue!!!
Thank you again.
Lisa
Posted by: Kool Kidz
What ever color Mikey wants is fine with me (blue frame). Lisa can ask Mikey what he wants for color on the nerfs. Keep in mind the blue frame. Ernie is incorporating blue into the graphics, too late I already ordered those. Marc you guys can send what ever you guys have to my shop.
The quad has front steel wheels so it would be nice to put on some lighter aluminum ones.
When I get it done I will post pics!
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
Well it looks like we will be hanging with the blue colors! It's okay. I don't want the bike to look like it's been pieced together....so whatever Cory thinks is best is okay with me. Again I want to thank all of you!
Lisa
Posted by: mxdad423
You are very welcome Lisa, anything we can do to help. Whatever you want to do Cory is fine with me, Marc can send them to you, then you can send them to me if you want them coated, or Marc can send them directly to me, up to you. just let me know when they are coming and what color and I will get the powder ordered.
Kevin Smitley
Posted by: bulldogfallon
I'll send the front aluminum wheels...
Posted by: Kool Kidz
I think the nerfs would look cool in white, Black or Blue. Might as well have Marc send them right to Kevin.
Posted by: etondaddy
Kevin I have white, black powder, and maybe some kind of blue. We could like Mikey pick a color on www.columbiacoatings.com and if we have it cool if not I'll order it.
Mike Kozura
Posted by: hotquads1
Sounds good , I will ship the nerfs to Kevin today, I will put the seat cover, and ZTR tensioner in same box and they all can be forwarded to Corey at same time.
marc
Posted by: hotquads1
just shipped out , UPS, Kevin the box will be there in 2 days. If anyone talks to the Raths see if they will pitch in some new nets for these nerfs , the new powdercoat will make old nets look bad.
marc
Posted by: mxdad423
Ok everybody sounds good, I will be looking for them to get here. Hey Cory, see if Mikey wants to pick the color, if it is a color I have or Mike has we can use that, if not we can order it. Thanks Mike for the powder, once we figure out the color I will let you know and we can go from there. Like Mike said, Mikey can look at all the colors on columbias web site at www.columbiacoatings.com. Just let us know cory.
Marc I will see what I can come up with from Rath on the nets.

Hey Everyone
Cory asked me to talk to everyone about colors.
Mikey's bike is white plastic with a blue seat.
He general wears either all black or black and red.
His helmet is black and red. Boots are black.
He is not crazy about blue.
So whatever colors you guys think will look best.
I will tell you that his favorite color is pink but I DO NOT want pink as a primary color on his bike. An accent color here or there is OK. His second favorite color is red.
So do whatever you think is best.
Again..THANK YOU!

I'm sure Ernie will come up with a great looking red and pink combo for the graphics. If you want any more powdercoating done just let us know.
We could do his a-arms hot pink..........lol

Just let me know......we would need a good week or so to ship them back and forth. If Cory can get them off and send them I will order the powder. And Ernie can have pink in the graphics they would have something to match......

Hey everyone
Looks like the bike is coming together and I wanted to thank all of you! But I still need some more help....Mikey's first race is coming up 4/5 and I need to know what to bring with me. A check list would be helpful. I know the obvious stuff like uniform, helmet, goggles, boots, gas. How much gas do I bring? Any tips would help!!!
Lisa
Posted by: hotquads1
Lisa,
we usually take 2 gallons per bike per event , depends on how long the tracks are and how much you get to practice.
marc

I would try to have an extra set of gears and transmision bearings as well as an extra chain. The other one that is in my opinion the most important for engine life is to bring an extra air filter or 2... If the conditions are harsh it really makes sense to have a couple of extra filters prepped and ready. Good luck this season!

I spoke with Tom from ATV Fourplay today. He is pretty busy and did not see this thread. He would like to help out with one of there steering stem supports. Post up the addresse or pm it to me so I can forward it on to him and get it shipped out.

Triston (my son) just pointed something out to me on the picture you posted. He said Daddy he doesnt have a neck brace, and he shouldnt be on that thing without one... If you dont have one, Triston and I would like to make sure he has one before the season gets started?
Gary or Marc, Please let me know if you have one of the new Leatt Adventure series in stock and I will take care of it... Triston doesnt realize this, but his piggy bank is about to get a little lighter...

What is the length of the tierods on a stock 44" A-arm DRR? Also, is there any thread showing, could they be made slightly longer to achieve maximum thread bite?
Thanx in advance, I want to make these the correct length since the quad is not in front of me.

Hey Everyone
We are getting ready for our first race of the season...and the excitment is building. I spoke with Cory yesterday and Mikey's bike will be ready Thursday or Friday of this week. We are excited to see it! I spent the weekend running around trying to find all the gear we would need....it was a task. My husband had his own system but I believe I have found everything. Mikey got to try on his uniform and boots...he grew over the year, but we should be fine! I've got all the gear lined up in the garage just waiting for the day! I can't thank you all enough for everything you have done....I know that on Sunday that I will cry not only for the loss of my husband but also for the happiness of seeing our son back out on the race track. And that is all thanks to each and every one of you! I will keep you posted and will post some pictures..
Thank you soooo much.

If you pm me your address I will ship you the kidney belt, it was too small for my son but maybe it will fit Mikey. It is a black Fox , and brand new, if it ends up too small for Mikey pass it on or sell it to help with gas or an entry fee......if you PM me the info today I will get it in the mail and you should have it for the weekend......Good Luck this weekend......Jeff & Tyler(70t)

Thank you guys for getting everything here. I have been swamped and trying to get caught up.
Mikey is ready to go.
Got the nerfs on, wheels and tires on, fresh clutch, jetted and put on the graphics FTR sent. Quad looks sweet. I'll teach Lisa and Mikey the ins and outs this weekend and what to look over on the quad. Only thing she needs to bring is fuel. I'll have anything else she might need to make the 1st weekend a little less stressful.
Mikey just has to hold on, its a handful! My boys tested it and gave the thumbs up.
He's ready to go racin', especially with that stylin outfit from Jim and Brandon, that is nice!

Hey Everyone
It's Friday nite and we have just picked up the bike. It looks awesome! Mikey says..."it has great details, it feels great, it has nerf bars on it and it is so awesome!"
He hasn't had a chance to take it for a ride yet, but tomorrow morning he will "test" ride it around the yard. Cory says it is super fast!
Also, Mikey recieved the kidney belt and complete uniform today! He looks great in all the new gear. Everything fits!!!
A great big thank you to everyone involved...including Cory who was the point man!!!
I will post some pictures after the race.
Keep your eyes out for #437....he'll be the kid out there with the biggest smile on his face!
Thank you, Lisa

Hey Everyone
Just wanted to give you all an update. Things went wonderfully on Sunday! I will admit that I was a wreck about towing a trailer, but that went well. I ended up borrowing a trailer for the day. I didn't realize how much work went into preparing for a race, my hat is off to all of you who do it (and make it look easy!). Mikey's quad looked great and ran wonderful. Last season he wasn't getting off the line, but on Sunday it looked like he was in 2nd the first moto and 3rd or 4th on the 2nd moto. I couldn't of been prouder! He didn't do as well in his racing. Looked like he was "riding" instead a "racing". He took 11th in both motos! I met some nice people at the race...which is always great. Also Evansville, waived Mikey's entrance fees for the day...which was a huge help. All and all it was a great success for Mikey and for me. I know that I can do this now (ofcourse I am still going to need your help!) I still have a few questions :
1. I need to learn how to clean the air filter
2. I need to learn how to adjust the chain
3. Is there a manual out there to show me how to do simple things??
Also, Mikey has three things on his wish list that we would like to put out there:
1. grips for the handle bars (ones that look like waffles), he says his hand slips off.
2. flex handle bars
3. neck brace
Is anyone going to be at DMX on the 26th? Maybe I can team up with you so you can teach me some simple maintance? Cory is wonderful, but he is a SUPER busy man at the track. I really don't want to bother him with simple stuff I can do.
I can't thank all of you enough. Without your help I would NEVER be able to do this. THANK YOU! Mikey thanks you too. If it isn't too much trouble, if you have donated something to Mikey could you pm me your address, Mikey would like to send you a personal thank you. I would also like to represent you as sponsors for him.
I will be posting photos soon...i have a big of a problem posting them on this site but I promise to get them on here.
Thanks,
Lisa

Spray the filter with something like purple power, mean green...ect. rinse it out real good with hot water until it rings out clean then shake it out and towel it off then hang it up until it's dry......then spray a light coat of filter oil on it and put it back on.
If you want e-mail me the pics and I'll post them for you mikekozura@yahoo.com one day we need to talk on the phone and I can walk you through the photobucket think it's easy once you catch on.

i don't clean it in gasoline??
Posted by: tyler70t
As long as Mikey has fun on the track and he really wants to be there I wouldn't worry about him looking like he is riding, not racing. Before you know it he will be flying over jumps and you will be a nervous wreck. Right now as long as he finishes the race and had fun that is all that matters. Good job Mikey, Tyler says he hopes to see you @ Atco some day and was wondering if you're coming to Wildwood for the race in May?
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
We were talking about it. It sounds like a fun weekend. I want to get more details though. Like do u sleep on beach? Is it safe?? Is there bathrooms!!!???
Also, will that affect the quad? Will have to prepare in a different way??
Any information would be helpful.
Are you going to be there? Maybe we can pit near you if you don't mind. I kind of need someone to "lean" on for help.

Lisa, I never use gas on the filter, Like etondaddy said any kind of degreaser will work great, I use a degreasing soap and just let them air dry, thats all you need to do.
Anytime you have any questions, just ask, we are all here to help any time you need us.

Ok so let me make sure i have this right.
take filter off and out of the "baggie". clean in degreaser (like simple green???). let air dry (make sure dry!) then spray with what???
also i should make sure i have couple ready at the races, right? what do i keep them in until i am ready to use them?
also, i saw one kid (who won both motos by the way) who had what looked like a drier hose over the air filter....is that a better way to go? or it it too complicated for me? HE DID GO FAST, was it due to a simple air filter?
Hey guys I am learning here, so I might ask ALOT of questions, some of them dumb but I am trying.
Thanks for your help.Lisa
Posted by: Nichols Atvs
DonT worry about mikey going fast. Let him get the feel of things and he will tell you when more power is needed . He needs to drive the quad, not the quad to drive him . When its time his desire to win will come forth and you will be suprised . The vent dryer tube is to keep mud and water out of the filter only purpose , milk jug will work as well. Quad looks awesome . I like the shine of those rear wheels. Bling allways make them go faster!!!
Good luck to the three of you . Lisa you will be learning alot this summer. FUN is the name of the game !

You need to spray (lighty) with foam filter oil. Go to your local motorcycle shop and get a spray can of foam filter oil. Because your filter is made of foam and not a paper type (K&N). Yes you should have at least two filters...I have three one for practice and one for each moto. The dryer hose is a old CVT trick from way back to protect the filter on muddy races. Just keep asking....you have many friends here.

It is totally safe @ Wildwood, last year we got a hotel right across the boardwalk from where the race is held (Garfield & the beach) but left our truck & trailer locked up on the beach. They have outhouses set up right on the beach. It is a great weekend and that was actually Tyler's first race, now he's hooked! We met so many good people and Tyler made lot's of friends. We will probably pit with a large group of mini racers and you are more than welcome to join the group. Hope to see you there. We have an extra neck brace but it is only a foam one, you can have it if you want but the safest ones are the Leatt ( that's what we just bought) but anything is better than nothing.....Let me know.....Jeff
BTW glad the kidney belt fit
Posted by: coffing918
lisa,
i am the mom that was right in front of u and mikey in the 70cvt class staging with my neice, we talked brefily in the pits. i have an almost brand new EVS neck brace that i bought for my 6 year old son, he used it only 2 races. his neck was too short for it, it just didnt fit him right, so i had to buy him the leatt brace, mikey is more than welcome to have the EVS brace that i have. its a size small which fits ages 4-16 years old is what it said on the package. if you are at dutchman on the 25th/26th mikey can try it and if he likes it its his.

For filters I have learned to have a couple on hand. We use No-Toil filter oil, can be found at local dealer.
The oil is bio-degradable doesn't have some of the nasty smells and chemical stuff, plus real easy to clean with Simple Green or mild detergent.
Usually I go thru 2-3 filters a weekend, then either tues or weds night I take the filters to the deep sink and spray off all loose dirt and debris, then spray with simple green and let sit a few minutes. Then just massage the filter till it looks clean again. Rinse good. Flick as much water out of it and then let it air dry for a day or two. After all dry I coat it and massage the oil into the filter evenly.
I then have a big ziploc bag that the filters stay in till ready for use.

Hello Everyone!
I spoke with Lou at DRR and he is more that happy to take care of the trailer until someone else can get there to take it on the next leg. He said he'll store it inside.
It won't know for sure until Saturday because thing are a bit crazy at work right now but the tenative plan is to head out for Ohio on Monday or Tuesday.
Shane
FYI: The trailer uses a 2" ball

Just wondering , may sound simple but did anyone make sure Lisa is aware of the proper gas/oil mixture to be using? Would hate to see the bike seize up.
Wolfpack , I am still available to help with the last lpart of the run for the trailer.....Jeff
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
Don't worry I got the gas/oil ratio down. My husband had a measuring cup with the ratio on it (which I believe is 32:1, right?) But Cory set me up with a bottle of oil and told me to add to 5 gallons of gas...so I think I got that right. And since we are speaking of gas....does it matter what kind I use? Regular?
Thanks on the neck brace offer...we will be at the Dutchman on the 26th.. someone on here has offered to buy a Leatte for him.
I think I got the air filter down. I stopped in a local shop and got a "kit" of sprays. I will try to clean them tonite...in my sink (yuck!!).
I also bought Mikey a set of grips at the store...its for his Easter basket!
Is anyone on here going to DMX on the 26th?? I am going to need to learn how to adjust chain and anything else I might of missed. Please let me know.

the only thing Lisa has to do is figure out where they stay fri and

I can either ship it to you or I would install it for you at the next D6 race. (I think its Dutchmen).

Just wanted ya'll to know i have cleaned the air filter. Not so bad!
When cleaning the bike i know not to get water into the air filter...is there any other places to avoid water? also, i know to oil the chain after cleaning the bike...is there any other places that need to be oiled or cleaned for that matter?
i plan on learning how to adjust the chain at the next race....what tools should i bring with me??
We are thinking about going to the thunder in the sand...do i need to modify anything on the quad in order to race ? (ie tires?)
also...any suggestions on where to stay?

Lisa,
I don't think there is really much to change for that race. I just booked my room @ Heart of Wildwood, it is the closest hotel to the race. As far as water goes, keep it out of the exhaust as well!!!!!
Also it looks like Al from Thundermoto has hooked you guys up well for that weekend, Mikey will have a great time down there.

lisa if you go on my website www.thundermoto.com and go to lodging there is a list of hotels there mention that thundermoto has referred you to get a good rate i know that the knoll and nantucket have good rates for us the heart of wildwood is a nice hotel right on the boardwalk , you can keep the bike and trailer on the beach overnight next to us or if you have friends camping next to them hope to meet you at the dutchmen race also a secret for everyone go to my website and click on area entertaniment there is a moreys pier link there for discount tickets password (thundermoto) have fun print out vouchers before you come down thats the only way to get discount if you forget come see me at trailer and i can have the wife print them for you :

I would suggest larger rear tires instead of the sno hogs (which
is what you have now) for the beach. Brandon has been stuck
before if you don't stay in the racing line. Cory is getting a set of
maxxis rear tires for us, if you can get a set it would help.

Learned how to adjust chain this weekend, will attempt at E-town next weekend. As well as spark plug changing! Damn, there is alot to learn...but I am determined. Please don't give up on me.
Thank you for all your support, even if its just reading this thread and thinking about us.

Almost forgot...the trailer is at DRR warehouse in Ohio. Is there anyone who can get it closer to NJ? Right now I am borrowing a trailer. Lisa

The quad is looking sweet, cool hood, just like Brandon Graces'. Nice gear as well, glad to hear the weekend went well.

Is there anyone near Ohio that can move this trailer east ?

Hey Everyone
Englishtown this weekend was a wet muddy mess, but the good news is Mikey had a blast and his bike didn't break down. He ended up with 4th place!
I learned how to change transmission fluid and the spark plug. Also got a crash course on drier hose installation!
Mikey's bike is looking great. There still a few items I could use for the bike.
Clutch springs, rollers (1500 & 4g)
30 tooth rear sprocket
47.6mm piston kit (polini 10)
47.6mm ring (polini kit)
Klotz R50 pre-mix oil
master links
428 chain
outterwears cover
1 1/2 uni filter
We thank you again for all your helpful and support.

Hello Everyone:
Whew! it has been a busy week. Just wanted to update you on the Thunder in the Sand. We had a BLAST! Mikey did relatively well. He ended up with 6th place in the 70cc class and 3rd place in the Jr Mini. We did have some engine trouble on Sunday...but thanks to some wonderful people, who worked on his bike, he was able to get back out there and take 2nd place in his moto. The rain is not a friendly thing to these bikes! IS ANYONE working on a cover for the air filter????? Other than the dry hose, is there any other suggestions???
I believe Mikey bent his axle, but Cory has the bike right now and I am waiting to hear.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us out. I would not be able to do any of this without your help!!! I realized this weekend how much MORE I have to learn. And speaking of learning...does anyone have an old carburator? I think I need to learn how to take apart and clean and thought I could practice on an old one before I even think about doing it on Mikey's bike. If you do PLEASE let me know.
Again..thank you for all your help and support. I will post pictures as soon as a figure it out again.

Hey Everyone:
Just thought I'd give ya'll an update. Haven't raced since Wildwood so we decided to hit Evansville this past weekend. We had a great time. Mikey rode his FIRST wheelie ever! He popped a wheelie off the gate and rode it for about 10 yards and then fell on his bike. It was great! He was very proud of himself.
We will be heading down to ATCO next weekend. Any advice?
I am still having problems with attaching the dryer hose; does anyone have any other suggestions??

What in the world has Cory done to his quad to have him riding wheelies?

I have no idea what Cory did to the bike, but I know he rode a hell of a wheelie!
I still need help getting the trailer from Ohio!!! Anyone interested in taking a rode trip??? DRR wants the trailer out of there, so if I don't get it soon I will lose it.
Please let me know if you can even do a partial leg of the trip!

pray for dry weather.lol soon there will be a better alternative.
We will see you and mikey at the track saturday morning.

i hope its going to be dry cause JJ always gets stuck on top of that one berm when its wet and there is no one there to help him out and if a parent trys to help they yell at you.. he was in 1st when he got stuck there last time and no one came to help him for about 45 seconds by that time he had no chance to catch back up to 1st place they should station someone there to help!!!!
Posted by: tyler70t
Are you talking about the berm after they come down the long straightaway by the orange fence?
Posted by: joe0718
To the left of the starting gate. J.T. got stuck on that too and gave away a race.

Does anyone know what the weather is going to be like this weekend?
Also do they get to practice on Saturday morning too? Or only Friday night?
I'm looking for a cheap motel down there...anyone know of a place?

Priceless!!

Hey Everyone
Let me start by saying I am sorry for not updating you all. I am been terribly busy and I didn't want to bog everyone down.
We have been doing great. Mikey is really getting a feel for his bike and is feeling more comfortable on the track. I have to say he loves riding. If we could race every single day he would!
We have gone to a couple D6 races and are doing the Thunder in the Sand series. I can't believe how far we have come since April of this year. I did not think I was going to be able to do it. And certainly would of not been able to without the help of everyone on here and the people at the tracks! Thank you!
I find once again having to ask for help....Cory from Kool Kidz has been keeping Mikey's bike running but as you all know things wear out. This is a list of parts Cory says I need to put onto the bike. Is there anyone who can "donate" them or get me a discount price on these parts?
Clutch:
Malossi Rear Spring Red
5.4 gr weights
780x16.5x30 belt
47.6mm, 10mm pin piston and ring. (Single ring)
B8HS Plugs
Chain 428
Also his shocks are "shot", well at least the rear one is.
I appreciate everything everyone has done for us. Racing is the thing Mikey enjoyed doing with Dad and I know every time he is on that track his Dad is right there with him. Racing has also brought us together, he now has confidence in me!
Again, I thank you all for your kindness.

Lisa,
Are you guys getting ready for Wildwood? What day are you going down?
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
We are so looking forward to Wildwood! Mikey's bike is with Cory right now getting a new rear shock...or at least a temporary one. I'll explain in Wildwood. Looks like we are all staying at the same hotel. I am hoping to lock Mikey's bike up in your trailer or Jim's, hope thats ok? If you guys get there before me, save me a spot!! And are we going to the same area??? Im bringing boots this time though, just in case it rains again!!
See you soon....Lisa
Posted by: tyler70t
Lisa,
Don't worry about a spot, Jim is going down Thursday and yes we'll be in the same area. When are you heading down? Don't worry about Mikey's quad you can put it all in my trailer and we'll lock it up.........Jeff
Posted by: Lisa Voorhees
we are heading down friday afternoon. do you know what time practice starts on friday? id like to get him on the track for a couple of laps at least.
are they going to be doing the drag racing again?? HEY JIM...you bringing your bike???? Id like to take a spin out there myself!!!
Funny story...well really not funny but typical of me....after washing the bike someone told me to take the bolt/plug out of the carb to let the water drain out. No big deal...i can handle this...well when i went to put it back in...it kept going in crooked. i try about 15 times....finally gave up. At the last race i brought the bike to Cory...guess what i did???? Cross threaded the bolt!!! Thank god, everyone is so forgiving of my mistakes! I truly do try but I don't think i have a mechanic bone in my body. Thought you'd get a chuckle out of that. Im learning all the time!!
Can't wait to see you all
Lisa

Lisa, practice is from 1-4 on Friday
and I will be bringing my quad to drag
race Friday night.
I will let take it for a spin if you
can hold on . Lol
