My gas tank on my ktm has just started turning white and I don't know why? What can be done to prevent it oxidizing anymore? Can it be completely taken off?

Spray Maxima SC1 High Gloss on the tank and the whole bike actually. This stuff works great, it makes everything look almost brand new. I usually wash and dry my quad then spray the whole thing with SC1.

If it sits outside put a cover on it or put it in the garage to keep it from getting worse. The first polaris atvs had the same problem with their gas tanks.

I keep mine inside but i went at a local gncc race the other day and left mud on the tank for a days and when I washed it off it did that. I need a new tank the screws that hold the fenders and side panels on the tank have stripped out or something?
