i don't think i have posted this but anyway my 2000 rancher started smoking and pumping oil out the exhaust pipe.i am going to tear it down but does anyone have a idea of what i may find??

Most likely you'll find a need for a bore job.

What i thought.Owell i guess i will tear it down and get it done.Does any one make a high comp piston for the ranchers?

Posted by: TRXRacer1

got it apart today.rings are not broken and appear to have good tension.gonna take the head to get checked next week and order a piston kit and get it back together.

i need some specs if anyone can help me.i need torque specs for the head and valve train plus the valve adjustment setting please.thanks

Measure your cylinder before you order a piston, it's possible you don't need one.

Posted by: nastynotchback1

I would but i am going to install a high comp piston and have the head ported also.

2000 rancher 350 valve clearance
both intake and exhaust = 0.15mm (0.006in)

Cylinder acorn head nuts = 29ft-lb (39 Nm)
Rocker arm holder bolt = 22ft-lb (30Nm)

the two 6mm bolts = 106 in.-lb(12Nm)

Valve adjuster locknut = 12ft.-lb (17Nm)
