kill switch working bacwards

I have a 660 raptor and i recently installed a tusk kill switch. When I wired it up and tried it, it worked backwards. When the cord is unplugged the quad runs and when you plug the cord in the quad dies. I wired one wire to the orange wire located just before the ignition coil and ran the other wire to my frame for a ground. Did I do something wrong or do I have a defective tether cord?

Yeah, there's no way to wire these backwards really.
Sounds like you have a defective one.

agreed. if you want to check it next time before you install it, take a multimeter and when you shoot across the switch with the cord unplugged it will be a short. with the cord in it will be an open circuit.

are you sure its grounding on the frame? It can't be grounded to something thats painted.

if it wasnt grounding to the frame, nothing would happen at all since whether the switch itself is open or closed, the circuit would always be open

sounds like he wired it into the factory kill switch wires.

cant say i know what you mean about a factory kill switch, i know mine doesnt have one nor does my wiring diagram show one. i may be missing something but what he said he had done would be the correct way to hook up a switch to an 660
