Here's one thing I saw once but know one else has info on it. My question is on the carbs. I have an '04 YFZ450 jetted with 168m, 45, ncvq 4th clip, and 2 turns. I just bought an '07 YFZ450, did the same jetting and it ran way to rich. Is there a difference in any way with the carbs?

the jet needles on the older ones dont have as big of a o.d. on it.

Are you talking about the needle or the bore size that the needle sits in?

the needle

O.K., but I put the NCVQ needle in the '07 so the 2 quads are exact, it's just the '07 runs way richer to the point were I now have a 165m, 42p and it runs better. Those 2 jets make a big difference so I was just wondering if the carbs were different in any way.

The carbs are the same in all years, it's just the jet's and needles that were different.
The 04-05 and 06-up have different heads. In '06 they went to a smaller port design, so the later model YFZ's tend to require a little leaner jetting.

That's the answer I was looking for being that my '07 runs richer than the '04. Thanks for that and how did you come up with that info? Just curios. Thanks - Rob.

I have 2 '04 motors and 2 '06 motors, in our racing stable.

Alright. I tried searching and I couldn't find any threads.. can you please either post what words I should search or the URLs?

I have tried the following: changes / changes years / differences..... and I didn't find anything. Sorry for brining up an old thread too.
