hey guys,
I've been trying to get good at wheelieing but i cna't get what u guys mean by useing gas and brake to keep it up, etc, plz Explan...Thx
Posted by: 400EXrider#91
ok what i do is get it up is just like put it in second flour it until you find the banlance point then just use the brake and gas to control it,like so....if the front is going down you pin it, but if your to far back all you have to do is tap the REAR brake a little and it comes down.
p.s. if it gets to far back don't slam on the rear brakes to hard unless compelte emergency cuz the front end will come down hard
i hoped that helped

Right now I am leaning towards buying a new hydration pac with pockets. But then it will interfer with roost gear, or maybe a fannypack.
I am always afraid I'll fall on it or something, or it will get wet(spilled beer)
i know how to protect it pretty good. but the camera in a ziplock bag ( water tight ) and put it in a slow quads box like i do. a rancher. he is crazy tho he rides whellies better then most of us. so i put it in my pocket. only fell on it once or twice. nothing broke.

Nice turd cutter!
sorry dude i couldnt resist
Posted by: Nausty
yesterday was awsome. Lol, everytime I go to bussey I always get in wheelie matches with people and yesterday was no exception. Every time I saw someone showing off i'd step up and do something bigger and we would go back and fourth. It was so much fun. I won just about everything except for when they all go tired of losing in freestyle and wheelies we raced. I lost but that was because he had a motor kit, axle, race tires, ect. I also got my heel clickers down and did it over lots of differant big jumps. Next is cliff hanger and no foot can.
Cliff hager I think will be easy to learn but I have my doubts if i'll clear the seat in time w/ my foot. I can barely do them on the ground and they look like crap.
Posted by: hessianmx111
damn nausty i love your quad, helmet, pants(i got the same but mine are green camo) and chest protector. those rims are lookin badass
Posted by: Nausty
lol, thanks man. I hope to have more chrome on it, elka red frame and elka red bottem gibson a-arms and black top a-arms. Chances are it will be a few years tell that happens and i'll still be on a stock motor.
Kinda OT: but I just gotta vent, my carrier is about trashed now and the axle width isn't cutting it anymore so we're just gonna replace the whole rear end and thats gonna cost some $$$. Guess i'm gonna have to ride w/ bent stem and bars for a while longer.

Not the best pic of me and I can do better. I had to set the timer on my digi cam and then run to my 250EX real fast and do a wheelie and not hit the camera, all in 10 seconds. I'll try to get more of my specialties.

.
Posted by: DaveEX7
Nausty, I tried that superman wheelie yesterday and the field is kinda bumpy so whenever I hit a bump I kept knockin my nads off the grab bar:confused2 . Il get better at it though.
I have a pic of me doin a one-footed + front bumper grab thats kinda similar to yours.
Posted by: Nausty
lol, yeah that what I hate about that wheelie. Try getting your front end up higher when you do it so there isn't as much weight on the jewels. lol.

LOL, its mostly the grab bar but also my license plate hahah, those dam sharp edges on the end of the plate hurt like a mother.
When I get my shifter back Il have my friend bring his digi cam and I get a pick of me doin it and the expression on my face after a nice long nad-tap with the grab bar.

juss jokin.... after that I always wear jeans or my riden pants.
Posted by: Prazak250EX
I've got a stocker 250EX, and I can wheelie all the way from first to fifth, no problem. Usually I run off the road or I run out of road, due to imbalanced tire pressure. It kinda sux to fall on the grab bar and helplessly watch your quad run into woods in 4th gear.......

It feels like its fast when your on it, unless you've ridden a bigger quad in the past 48 hours.
At least it wheelies good.

I was riding my Banshee that day. When I got on the 250EX, I just wasn't expecting the power.
It was a "hey, watch this!" moment.

Fast250- nice wheelie shots.
I dont like throwin my legs over the bars cause one time I stood the quad up and just fell rite back instead of havin my legs hook onto the nerfs.
Posted by: Fast250EX
Thanks.
I remember I did a wheelie similar to that first pic except my right foot was on the bar and my left foot was in the air. I hit a bump and started to swivel like a door on the quad and fell off backwards, slamming my head hard on the ground. I had a headache for 3 days after that. I was just glad it didn't run over me... again.
Thanks for the comments.

I have been working on a new wheelie and I have it down pat now. I just need a friend to take the shot while I do it. I will do a wheelie sitting down, get to the balance point and do a heelclicker and put my foot back on the pegs. I can do a small video of it too next time he's down.
I'll try to get the picks on here. Later!
Posted by: sportraxrider10
when you guys ride your wheelys far, do you blip the throttle? or do you just hold it straight out?
Posted by: ReconRider25
you do both. depending on where you got it balanced and stuff. if yur at the balance point you can just blip it to keep it up and stuff but when ur bring up the front end id say hold the throttle
Posted by: Adam202
best way is to try to keep a constant throttle and you can ride it forever [but its harder], but i blip the throttle when adjusting or messing around.
Posted by: Adam202
when my front end is dropping and im in like 3rd or 4th gear sometimes i hold it wide open and start switching gears to try to keep it up. once you learn to ride wheelies its like nothing. sometimes i can just floor it and switch threw the gears while riding a wheelie, but ussually only happens when im about to loose a wheelie.

yeah theyre pretty easy and look kinda cool. i like puttin one foot on the rack get some speed up in like 4th gear to where itll coast and grab the racks and ride it like that till it gets ready to either fall back or fall forward.

thats a pretty nice wheelie, i cant figure out how to grab my bumper, or atleast my plastic up front. if u have any advice, i'd accept it well
Posted by: ny300exrider
put a foot in the grab bar and pop it up pretty high in first, reach over the bars while giving it alittle gas and hold onto the bumper, make sure your quad is pretty high up so you can be somewhat comforatble while holding the bumper. then just let go, thats how i do it. good luck!

hey people, nice wheelies...Does anybody know how to do a slo-mo wheelie, my friend just taught it to me, we dont have much open room to do wheelies so we pop the clutch and use the clutch and the rear brakes alot and just hold it balanced in one spot for long periods of time with out moving or putting it on the wheelie bar, it looks real trick, its nice and a lot of fun, try it...i am getting some pics on here by next week, you guys will like these...no hander(1 & 2), no footers, side seat sadles, over the bars, standing up, dragging left hand on the ground, and even superman wheelies! its crazy

Wow, thats awsome to see a thread 36 pages long about wheelies! I got 5th gear wheelies locked down now. Those are a lot of fun. Other than that I can do just about every wheelie.

Well if you "know the rules" about not wearing helmets and still post pics about it..... you should be booted.
It plainly states at the bottom of every page that riding an ATV without a helmet is condemned by exriders and all pics will be deleted. (or something like that)

4. Feel free to attach ATV related pictures to you posts. Pictures of riders without helmets will be deleted - riding without a helmet is very dangerous and is an activity strongly comdemned by EXriders.
Just in case it was too small to read!! It's not hard to put on a helmet especially if your riding wheelie on pavement!! Let's see a wheelie with at least a helmet on and you'll get some props!!

Helmets must be worn!

how do i add pics i got a few
Posted by: phireboi
Does everyone else that 400ex's gas leak out when they put it back too far cause when I get it on the wheelie bar or about to 12 oclock it leaks out is it something unhooked on mine or normal?
Posted by: 2k2-300exnj
yea its normal its an over flow on the carb doing wheelies a lot kills gas faster than WOT drags (well depending)
Posted by: 406ex
I was doing wheelies and I didn't notice gas leaking out the overflow..
But i was doing 12' 0 Clocks or anything (just learning)
But yeah I think it is supposed t leak out.
Posted by: phireboi
I never really noticed it that much until I put it on the wheelie bar on the road and when I got it back down and looked back there was a trail of gas.

hey im new to this forum and jsut got my 400ex! its a used 2001 and i got a sweet deal on it. ive learned how to use the clutch good, so now im tryin to master wheelin it. i can kinda wheelie my 2000 rancher but not very good. where about is the "sweet spot"?
Posted by: phireboi
Well the sweet spot is kinda hard to describe...at least for mee...but its pretty far back but what I did to learn how to wheelie good is to put m right foot back on the grab bar and leave the other foot on the peg and then wheelie it back...This makes it really easy to pop up and if you need to hop off the back if it goes on the wheelie bar you can...That helps to get you used to where you need to balanced. Then once I got good at that I started doing it sitting down and using my rear brake to bring me down some if I start to go back. Once you get good though you'll know the sweet spot.

some people I just WANT to see use their head..
use their head as a kickstand that is. some of you are going to be on the Darwin awards.
Posted by: phireboi
Umm.....That wasn't about me was it?
Posted by: Xrider06
i can pretty much hold a wheelie as long as i want to through the first 3 gears, im still workin on the last two. i think it is easier to wheelie in 2nd gear because u r going a little faster and its not as hard for me anyway to give it too much throttle or brake. the best way to learn tho is to put your foot back on the grab bar because u can see where ur giong better and u can get it up easier. You cant be afraid to put it back on the grab bar either. u prolly wont be able to concentrate on riding the wheelie if ur just thinking about keeping from hittin the bar.
i made my own grab bar out of solid half inch steel so it will not bend. my friend did the same thing on his blaster and he actually broke his frame but not his grab bar.
