Still working on a good way to pack my camera with us to get some better action and jump shots, until then....
Posted by: Jcrew2
And here is Yarddog24, and ya he can wheelie circles around me!!! LOL
Posted by: Jcrew2
Ok just a scenery shot
Posted by: YardDog24
Holy crap, that is some GREAT composition on that first shot! Centered nice, lighting right. What a photographer!
Posted by: Jcrew2
A photographer is only as good as his subject!!!!!
Posted by: Krazy Kid
looks cold in that last shot
Posted by: Jcrew2
Yup, about 30 degrees at kickoff!!!!
Posted by: Woodsrider
Nice pics guys, when you figure out how th pack that camera, let me know. I am looking for the right thing to use too
Right now I am leaning towards buying a new hydration pac with pockets. But then it will interfer with roost gear, or maybe a fannypack.
I am always afraid I'll fall on it or something, or it will get wet(spilled beer)
Posted by: Rip_Tear
Nice pics. Packing a camera is scary work...
I know it would suck to brake it.
Posted by: infantry317
I started wearing a $8 Target Greatland backpack for the camera, water, different gloves, cell phone, etc. Works great and I don't even notice I have it on.
Posted by: yamblaster98
To pack the camera use a small ziplock bag, this will save it incase alot of water were to come to the camera, i usually hold all my stuff on the grap bar of my machine with a small bag
Posted by: luvmyex
I used to just strap my camera on my belt inside the little soft case i had.Till i fell off going in reverse(when i had my pos scrambler)and landed on it.Cost almost as much to fix it as a new one.$200 and only paid $300 for it. I still use the soft case but i try to carry it in my shirt pocket if i can or in my front pants pocket.I figure im more likely to land on my back if i do come off.Best thing is not to come off the quad at all
Posted by: goldfish
Heres one of me
Posted by: goldfish
I have a digital camera, so it might be a little smaller than regualar cameras, but i usually just try to keep it in my front pocket or even try to set it down somewhere safe when i know i wont be using it anytime soon.
Heres one of my friend on his TTR-125, i thought it turned out pretty well..

That pic of the TTR is money, the blurring looks sweet.

wheelies are fun, but not on my new banshee
Posted by: kalvas87
yeah the little TTR and the 300ex are no match for my YZ80 when it comes time to race...other than i get owned by the 300ex on jumping and wheellies
Posted by: goldfish
Ok now, lets get one thing straight i OWN you at wheelies and jumping and you beat me in a race in STRAIGHT LINE, no turns involved, now we take a lap around the track, now whos in the dust?!
Posted by: ny300exrider
hey goldfish...off the topic alittle but what gear do you start in to ride the wheelies. i would just like some advice haha. do you shift through them or what. Thanks aliot
Posted by: goldfish
I can do wheelies going slow in 2nd revving then pulling up, or get going pretty fast in 3rd and pull up, its much easier to make the front end come up when your standing. i wouldn't suggest in 1st, unless your going for not very far, because you will almost always quickly over-rev. I havent found a way to do them in 4th though besides landing at a bit of a nose dive off a jump giving gas, pulling up and going. You can ride these for long distances since your already going so fast. Great way to finish off a jump
I am still working on shifting, but there is no-where really where i ride to carry out wheelies more than 150 yds. so 3rd takes me plenty far enough. Be careful shifting though, for me the few times ive tried it jerks you backwards and ive come close to standing it up
Posted by: luvmyex
Shifting isnt that hard.dont use the clutch and be easy with the throttle. If you do get to high tap the brake. And as for starting in 1st.i can ride one in first as far as alot of people do shifting just take me longer to cover the same distance. If you get to the balance point you dont have to use much throttle at all and dont get close to reving out.In fact i stall more than anything going that slow.
Posted by: Rollin20s
All i need is a stock 400ex, and i can be the wheelie king, its harder on these damn 2 strokes, thats ok i can wheelie the shee 1st through 4th gear now!!!
Posted by: D400ex909
Man i wish i had a scanner, i got some sweeet pic's of me wheelyin all kinds of awesome ways. I can wheelie 1-3 gears, standing, sitting. Another thing me and my friends like to do is "freestyle" wheelies, we try to do the craziest stuff, i got some sweet pics of me wheelying w/both legs on one side of the quad, my legs on the plastic, my legs on my handlebars(my personal fav). Also, my friend rolls the quad on to two side wheels, then pops it up on 1 wheel, and rides it one handed, that kid is awesome. He can wheelie 1-4th gears on a stock ex. I dunno if you will believe this stuff or not, i wish i had a scanner. o well, it will give ya somethin to try at least even if ya dont believe me, lol, cya lata
Posted by: Steve-o 400EX
On my honda 200s 3 wheeler i can go from first to fifth, I can literally go forever, i usually run outta room though.:devil
I can do em pretty good in first, second and third on my 400, but i dunno about shifting with no clutch, my friend does that and i dunno how long his tranny is gunna last.

I can do some pretty cool wheelies. I have fell off the back so many times. Most of the time on purpose. I just let it go back on the grab bar but push it back down so it doesn't flood out. I have tried a no handed, one foot on the grab-bar wheelie with my 250EX. It didn't last long (couldn't use throttle) but it was pretty cool. I tryed a no hander sitting down just for laughs but I always fall off. It is funny falling off in 3rd and watching my 250EX run off on its grab bar. I'm like "Get back here!!" Somebody's gonna catch me on tape one of these days and blackmail me.
If they did, they just wish they had falling skills like me.

Posted by: Slick
I really like wheelies. I am the best of anyone i know at wheelies. Someone said something about it being hard to wheelie in 1st gear, i have no problem with it..i can wheelie in first until i run out of road...2nd and 3rd also...i can maintain them up to 4th and 5th gear hehe. Also i like riding on the side wheels.
NICE WHEELIES GUYS!!!!
Posted by: mod300ex
i can hit 1st to 5th and never tuch the ground, never look bakc i was doing em up my drive way and someoen beeped nad i looked back and fell off and messed my arm up(drive way is stone)

Posted by: Steve-o 400EX
Anyone that has trouble with wheelies, its all about confidence, if you think you can do it and you have no fear of going back, you will be fine. Just concentrate on the sweet spot and use of your throttle, I can keep mine up in any gear until I run outta room.
Posted by: QuadTrix6
when i first started wheelies i fell off the back a million times before i realized you can work the brake into it..lol
Posted by: 300exracer
The only problem with my wheelies are some times i fall of the back but other than that I still love to wheelie.:devil
Posted by: nacsracer27
i got a picture of me doin a wheelie with both feet on the nerf and one sticking into the air, gota get it developed still

my brrother would ride weelies on his in first gear forever. He could ride them from 1st to 4. He could probebly go into 5th but ran out of room. He would alwasy ride them back onto the weelie bar and sometimes the quad qould fall on him but hed just kick it off and go ride more on the bar.
Posted by: siberthugd
Hey... I gotta get my braggin rights in here too! MNost, if not all of my wheelies are riddin until I run out of room. I can do these wheelies:
*Sit-down --> ride it 1st-5th gear
*12 O'Clock wheelie (hit the grab bar to the ground and able to put the front back down) --> ANY gear
*Stand up --> ride it 1st-5th gear
*one handed --> ride it 1st-5th gear
*one handed, one footed --> ride it 1st-5th gear
*no footed --> 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (obviously can't shift)
*no footed, one handed --> 1st or 2nd gear
*no footed with both feet on one side --> 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear
*both feet on one nerf bar standing up --> 1st-5th gear (yes I can shift through the gears on this one)
*one foot on the opposite nerf bar with the other leg extended --> 1st-5th gear (can shift through all the gears here too)
*feet over the handlebars --> 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
*kneeling on the seat (I call it a kneelie) --> ANY gear, 1st-5th
*standing on the seat --> ANY gear, 1st-5th gear
*laying down on my stomach on the seat with my feet bent upwards sticking WAY OUT there --> ANY gear
*feet and legs on front plastics --> 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
*feet on grab bar --> ANY gear, 1st-5th gear
*one foot on grab bar, other foot behind me in the air (called a flamingo) --> ANY gear, 1st-5th gear
*one-handed flamingo (like above, but with one hand) --> ANY gear, 1st-5th gear
*one wheeled wheelie --> 1st or 2nd gear
AND NOW FOR THE ONE MOST OF YOU WILL TRY AFTER READING THIS:
***I can truly do a wheelie with my whole body facing backwards: right arm, hand and foot on left side of quad and left arm, hand and foot on the right side... Yes, I even face backwards. If you do try this, you must lean WAY out with your face as close to the ground as possible. BE PREPARED TO FALL!!! This one takes a LOT of practice... I can do this in 1st or 2nd gear
Any people who doubt me can either come see me ride or keep to themselves. I will post pics hopefully soon though. Will link a page to here or post a few!

ok for that one, someone please post a B.S flag, anyways, i can do a wheelie standing on the fotn bumper and shift thru all gears, i can also doa wheelie stnding on the handlebars and shift thru all gears, i can lay down backwards, and hang my feet on the handle bars and when the wheelie gets up there, i hang by my feet, i shift thru all the gears in this one 2(shift with my hand), all these come simple, try it, i can do em

Ditto. Was doing a 12 oclock (I call it a scrapie) here and the grab bar got a big ol rock. Jcrew had to run the quad down....lol

lol 400ex balance so easy, you never even have to work the brake but just left off the throttle and let the engine braking slow it down. I'll have to get some pics of some "doubles" wheelies if its ok with the mods. My freind and I when we're bored go out and try doing stuff while riding double. Last time we went out we rode one wheelie for what seemed like forever in a feild and when I say for ever I mean like from one side to the other just creeping along in first gear. We will also get some pics of us both doing no footers while riding a wheelie. But anyways I got some old picks of my old tricks in my quad album in the sig and heres a few of em'.

the only time i wreck on wheelies is when i have my foot in the back and when i go to shift into 4th the quad goes up as i hit the gas so i usuallu either put my foot down or if i dont have time, i usually juss jump cause the grab bar juss hits the ground with such force
does it hurt when u fall backwards offa quad while doin a wheelie sittin down?? like in a field does it hurt cause im workin on them and im afraid to go to far back cause i dont wanna land on my neck like one kid did and he got killed
Posted by: Nausty
I've never fell off the back in my 3rd or 4th gear wheelies but the times i've fallen off while sitting wern't to bad. I've never fell on my head first and I usually just fall on my back from a foot or two. I honestly feel more comfortable balancing standing up on the pegs then standing on the wheelie bar on the high speed wheelies.
Posted by: siberthugd
I've fallen countless times riding all types of wheelies. Falling off a sit down wheelie doesn't hurt, as long as your not doing 60MPH, LOL. Then you get the road rash through the clothes/riding gear. I know all about that too much. If your riding a wheelie and fall back, hold on tight. Usually, even with your added weight, the grab bar will keep the bike from competely going over. This way, when you've tipped onto the grab bar you can let yourself off. The only wheelie that really hurt me was a couple weeks ago. I was riding a wheelie with my feet over the handlebars doing a good 25-30 MPH on a long dirt road. I hit a bump that I didn't see and it knocked me off sideways. I hit the nerf bar with my @$$ first, then rolled off onto the frozen ground. I rolled/skidded a good 15 feet and thats when the bike happened to roll right onto me. That stunk. I cracked 2 ribs, bent my handlebars, broke my front brake perch, and cracked my front plastics. Luckily my bike was rideable. I got it back to my truck where I performed surgery on the front brake. THANK GOD FOR ZIP-TIES AND TAPE! I rode the rest of the day untill the EP's busted us and gave us tickets. I should've quit when I crashed... Anyways, I suggest you actually TRY to go back too far in a wheelie and ee what happens. Just be ready for it coming back on you and have a friend watching you. Practice this and master it so when the time comes, you know how to bail safely!
Posted by: DaveEX7
ya but i have a plate on my quad so i gotta watch what i do....
the cops really dont care about quads around here so much, but uve gotta have a plate on there..
i could take it off, juss gotta make sure i put it back on b4 i go home

depends on the terrain and room. My axle is bent or my spindle is loose and it has had a tendancy to wheelie to the right so I usually end up having to put it back down. But since a lot of the fields have had their crops taking out I have been able to ride them almost the hole way across them. Makes for a very long wheelies creeping along in 1st gear the hole way accross the field also some really hairy wheelies at high speeds.
Posted by: hawiianpwr
I like keeping her up in first messaging both the brake and gas, you can go forever once you got that down.
Posted by: Nausty
lol the 400ex is the only machine i've ever ridden on where you can go back to far on purpose and ease on the brakes tell you come to a complete stop and then when the front starts to drop let out the clutch and start going again all while riding a wheelie. The only bad part about it is that it leaks gas out the overflow when you are riding wheelies.
Posted by: DaveEX7
me 2, except rite after i stand up my 250, the gas will leak out a lil, but when i go to do a wheelie a lil while later, the gas still leaks out some
and my friends 300 alwayz leaked out gas whenever he did wheelies

Practice Practice Practice!
Thats all I can say. I don't know how many times I've stood it staight up. Throttle and brake control is the hardest thing to get down. Once you get comfortable with that your all good!

OK, I'm new to this (only got one cause my son wanted one.), but we've been tryin to wheelie with not much luck. Any pointers?
I can hit it hard in first and it will come up, but not for very long... does it need atv viagra???

The fist pick is me in first gear. Those are the most fun because constantly playing with both the brakes and throttle
The second pic is me in 3rd

heres a wheelie being pulled out after a roost
Posted by: hawiianpwr
Hey p@iNn3ck! The best thing you can do is practice practice practice. Here are some pointers that I was given.
1. Get comfortable being up there. Finding that centerpoint.
(You will stand the quad staight up plenty of times! Its ok the rear grab bar will keep it from falling on you!
2. Throttle and brake control. You have to get a feel for this
3. Be loose
Practice in first gear. It is the hardest but it teaches you to get comfortable everything. Once you have mastered that gear the rest are easy

Nice wheelie on the ranch!!

Posted by: IL400exen
It's my cousin in those. He's just now learning how to shift through the gears w/o standing 'er up. I couldn't get any pics of me that day b/c my dad was out there and I wasnt aloud to do wheelies on it?? but now I am so after I get it put bak together after I totalled the front end out, I'll get some good ones of me. Here's a pic of me but not a wheelie shot. BTW: I wear a helmet too, just not when mud bogging. & can sum1 fix the pic 4 me?
Posted by: 300exracer
I can stand up my brothers ozark 250 but i cant even get the front end up on my king quad.

Posted by: IL400exen
lol BIG difference there. Oazark weighs 400lbs and the King Quad weighs +600lbs plus the weight on the 250 is more centered then the KQ. I heard you can't wheeie a O 250 for very long since it has an automatic carb shutdown. Right?
Posted by: 300exracer
Ya you cant keep them up that long but you can get the rack to drag in the back.

Troy loves to do those.. not me...
Posted by: muff
yea that wheelie looks sweet, I like doin up hills to i just dont like it when you end up goin to high, you have to back off the gas, then you dont have enough momentum to make it to the top
Posted by: 300exracer
Nice wheelie!!

Thats the only way I can think of doin it.
Posted by: muff
to do a one wheeled wheelie you get it up on its side (2 wheels), then pull it up in a wheelie, you cant ride it
Posted by: PhilMoore
For a one wheeler;
Put it in second
Start doing a donut
Pull a wheelie as you are sliding sideways.
Hold it until you flip over sideways or it flops back over onto two wheels.
You can't really ride it in a straight line for very long doing it this way. You might be able to ride for 10 feet if you two wheel it on the side, and pull up into one wheeler.
You should be able to slide wheelie for about 270 degrees before it tips over sideways, or it sets down on all fours.

nice wheelies ppl i can pull it up in 1st threw thrid on the 400,but the timberwolf has to be on a hill and you need to be standing on the rack! oh yeah i can never seem to ride wheelies up hills i ALWAYS flip backward and jump off but i still give it my best shot every time!

Nope, not Glamis. Too many trees!
It is Little Sahara, Oklahoma. It is one of, if not the best riding spots I have been to.
In this picture, I am hiding behind my quad and you can't see me.
Posted by: 300exracer
Good wheelies and my pic is my little rock dump like 1half mile away from my house. We never named the dumps yet.

OK... this is depressing..
I have never sported a good wheelie to post of myself dangit!!:grr I am going to try and get one worthy of posting this week end...

Guess what boys.....
Girls can wheelie too !!!

Cool.
My wife wanted to do wheelies on her 250EX, but she didn't want to kneel on the seat or stand on the grab bar. She would gun it, but the front end would lift only about 2 inches. I thought, heck, I will sit on the back and add some (a lot) of weight. She guns it and pulls a pretty good wheelie. I say, try again. This time she guns it. It starts to go all the way over, and I kick off the back. Well, according to her, I am supposed to stay close, so if she falls off she will land on me. She missed... She falls right on her butt, and whacks her tailbone.
Long story short, that wheelie cost about $75 in chiropractor bills...

WHHOO HOOOO You go girl!!!
So, tell me.. is it really easier for me to try to do them sitting, standing kneeling
I have done a smal one here and there sitting, I cant imagine stading yet... Just curious.. I have seen a few posts on wheelies.. Guess Ill do some checkin

For me, the easiest way is to put either one foot or 2 feet on the back grab bar.
Its a + because you can stop yourself from standin the quad up by pushin off the ground with your foot, and you can do some pretty cool lookin wheelies. Like a one footed no handed wheelie( ma favorite
).
Posted by: BaD_250ex
The last time I pulled a wheelie I fell of going in second and the back of my pants got hooked on the grab bar and it tore my pants clean off. lol. I was just laying their in my boxers.

I bet that was a sight to see!!!So foot on the grab bar is sest for a beginner huh?...hmm seems like that would be harder..But hey ill try it
Posted by: muff
puttin your foot back makes it easier cause it puts more weight on the back with will allow you to not have to bring the front so high

I find sitting to be the easiest.Just sit a little farther back on the seat. Also try not to worry about standing it up.The grab bar does stop ya.And try it in 1st.You dont need to go fast to wheelie, just try to find the balance point. Then you can ride a long ways in 1st without switching gears.Once you have that down.Start shifting.
