I go here to ride almost every weekend. It is like sand dunes almost but not so much like a desert. There is trails, mud, everything you could wish for at a riding place. and when it rains there, there is a lot of mud and water. i have a blast!!!!!! It is located at: http://www.mostateparks.com/stjoe.htm

Posted by: represent618

Good place to trail ride if you break away from the "main trails". I don`t like the chat sand though, very hard on equipment, have blown up a couple bikes there. fun winter riding when it is too muddy everywhere else, you can almost always ride at st. joe.

I say thumbs up!

The EPA and the anti-off-roaders are trying VERY HARD to shut this place down. it has been shaned from like 3000 to 800 acres and is once again in the news, they want the chat covered up and not rode on....hopefully it sticks around.

* Check you air filters, a little of that chat sand gets past and you are rebuilding!

Great place to ride. a group of us just got back from there over the week end. We all had a blast and we alwasys do when we go. If u never been there its a trip worth taking, and get you a good skid plate if u go.

Hey, any of you Illinois boy's know of a place called"coyote trails"?

Posted by: HmF300ex

Never heard of coyote trails, goin to St. Joes at the end of September for a week some of us should meet up there, I usually ride alone gets pretty boring lol.

Posted by: honda rider118

hey man ill head up there with ya. if i can lol ill seee

Posted by: airmobile101

I usually go during the weekday since Im off. Not that many riders there(St.Joe). So you can really ride hard without constantly looking over your shoulder for other riders.

Posted by: HmF300ex

Ye pretty quite on the weekends, only spot I'm careful of is when you first enter off to the right where it goes around the weeds, someone got killed right there from a head on wreck, I usually slow down there now.

Posted by: HmF300ex

would be cool to meet up though, i'll message you guys before i go to see if yall still wanna meet up XD

Posted by: Loeryder

Anyone interested in riding St Joe Thurs or Friday this week?

I have the rest of the week off, my normal riding partner hasn't fixed his bike and I don't like to ride alone.

Slightly modded 300ex but I can keep up pretty good.

PM or email me if you are gonna be around.

I love the OXC races, the only problem is they are all on the other side of Mo from me. Last year we made it to Mt View and reed springs. I just really miss the race at Park Hills.

My son and I drive out on occasion and run with yall. I'm usually hanging out with Kevin Kufalh. I really hope those TBA races will be on our side of the state.

Trust me, I know!!!! Im just suprised that District 18 dont run hardly any harescrambles. I would love to do some southern Illinois races. Hell, Im willing to drive to Paducah!!

Posted by: smr

midsouth has a race in Marion IL (at least they did last year).

They also have a few in western Ky.

come on over and ride with us some.

Posted by: airmobile101

That might be a possiblity, you got a schedule?

Your not the guy with that kid on that Kasea at Mt.View are you?

Posted by: HmF300ex

B.E.T(Belleville Endure Team) has a ton of races but I think you have to be a member, I am so I don't know if you have too.

Not for harescrambles. I can do Illinois since I work in Dupo. The last harescramble at BET was in early April of this year.

Posted by: HmF300ex

ohh ye didn't get the harescramble part lol

Posted by: airmobile101

Anybody up to some Labor Day riding at St.Joe?

Posted by: cmskms

nah..my kid rides a 300ex.

I was at Mt View but my son was sick and didn't make it.

The web page for midsouth is www.msws.org They havn't posted the new schedule yet but the first race should be Oct. 5th. It's usually in Greenville, Ky but sometimes they mix it up. We have about 3 races each year in western Ky. One place is about 30 minutes from Paducah.

If you fill like driving a few more hours south on labor day we will be at Turkey Bay in LBL.

Yea, it looks like my shock won't be back by Monday,so I guess Ill be doing the Raptor 350 Make sure you call me the night before for the times you'll be down there.

Posted by: represent618

rode there yesterday, had a good time.

put a lot of miles in the trails!

Posted by: airmobile101

Looks like the shock should be back by Friday. Im might have the Cat out there after all.

Posted by: cmskms

You guys been down to st. joes on labor day before? How crazy is it? and is there normally plenty of space to camp?

Posted by: airmobile101

Crazy just like any other Saturday or Sunday. Im imagine youll have to park in the overflow(tailing) section if not early. You best call now to see if any sites are open. Im still debating if I want to take my son or not.

Posted by: HmF300ex

Ye, when we go we take the RV, we have to reserve a hook up plenty early there full almost every weekend, but you should be able to get a camping site, call up around now and reserve one. It's plenty safe to take a smaller child as long as they pay attention to whats in front of em and stay outta the racing areas, but if you go towards either side their almost always deserted and plenty of sand to play in

Posted by: cmskms

yea if i go i will be bringing my son. I'm still debating between st. joe's and Williams hill pass OHV park down in Harrisburg, il. i was on their website and it looks pretty good, and there having some big ride festival down there or something

Posted by: jetta75

We have had to park in over flow a couple times and it still isn't all that crowded. Heck early this year we had to park past the overflow in the sand with just one tuck and a 4x8 trailer. If they listen and follow you its not any diff. than any other time. I lead unless we stop at a open spot. Timmy my son already knows so I have to bring him. With 3 adults it won't be a big deal if he listens to you or follows you. My son will get board if no other kids go anyway. Asked my dad to bring my 10 sister on her 80 also.
Before If we get enough adults/kids in the big open spots the adults can take turns playing and watching the kids play.
What time are you wanting to be there?

cmskms don't know if you'll be able to get a cap site. I think it may be first come first serve.

Posted by: cmskms

just called st. joes. they have some spots open still. if we go we'll definately want to meet up with all of ya. My son would like that, he hasn't gotten to ride with kids his own age yet.

Posted by: jetta75

My 7 year old and I will only be there Monday. He's always wanting other kids to race around with.

Posted by: cmskms

next couple weekends yall, start puttin some times up to come riding!!!!

Posted by: cmskms

Hey anybody interested might try to make it to st. joes this weekend...probly the 13th. If it doesn't rain of course. If not the next weekend for sure.

Posted by: jetta75

My brother just said something yesterday about riding there on Sunday. We are going to talk to 2-3 buddies this(Wed) evening.

Posted by: cmskms

We could do Sunday, we would just have to get there early to get our riding in. Cause we would have to leave by 3 or 4. Saturday would be better but we could swing either one

Posted by: jetta75

Looks like we will be going possibly even if it rains on Sunday. Will be adults only though. Should be 5 of us.

Posted by: cmskms

Ok, thats cool. Well if i go i will be bringing my son, since i told him i'd take him already. Maybe we can meet up briefly or something.

Posted by: airmobile101

I can do Sunday. Ill have to get an early start since I work night shift. So, If Im able to get out of St.Joe by 1pm,then Ill be good.
Let me know!

Posted by: jetta75

So far we are still going. Even if it rains. If its hard like it shows we may not. Myself and 2 buddies don't care. My brother who is driving doesn't want to go if its raining hard. It looks like it will stop around 1-2PM so it may not work for you Tim, but I will keep you updated this evening and in morning. Still looks like 5 of us thought if we make it.

Posted by: airmobile101

Cool.

Posted by: cmskms

so you guys still going tomorrow? Looks like its gonna pour most the day. Don't know if i'm gonna make it. Definately gonna do it next weekend though. and if anyone is up for riding weds. thurs. or friday let me know

Posted by: jetta75

As of 9pm still going. Hourly forcast for park hills said rain will stop by noon and sun will come out.

Posted by: cmskms

How was it down there Sunday? Was it flooded out at all?
We're definately going next weekend, the forecast looks perfect. We'll probly camp as well

Posted by: jetta75

Buddies and I didn't make it. Neither did airmobile. My brother and I went somewhere local for about 2-3 hours. Buddies wimped out. I don't think it would have been all that bad. They didn't get as many inches down there.

Posted by: cmskms

Well at least ya got to ride a little. We're definately going this weekend 20th and 21st. Camping too. I've got another guy going too. It should be perfect riding this weekend! Maybe you guys can make it out.

Posted by: jetta75

I'm thinking my son and I may head down on Sun. I should know by Thurs.

Posted by: cmskms

Sounds good. I am bringing my son also, and my buddy i'm bringing is probly bringing his kid as well.

Posted by: jetta75

My son and I will be at St. Joe on Sunday for sure. Not sure on the time yet, but It will be just us so we will make it for sure. cmskms if you may be at St. Joe on Sun. PM your # and I can call you in the morning on Sun. when I leave.

Posted by: cmskms

we'll be there for sure. Sent PM.

Posted by: airmobile101

Count me in !!!

Posted by: cmskms

Good to hear! See ya down there.

Posted by: cmskms

Hey looks like its gonna be a nice weekend, Oct. 11-12. We're going riding! It will be either St. joes or Little Egypt in southern illinois. If anyone is up for it let me know.

Posted by: jetta75

Don't think we will be able to make it to St. Joe. My son and I made it down there and met airmobile101 and his son for a ride and it was fun. Didn't get to ride much since we got there late and both my son and I were sick. It didn't bother me any, but I could tell he wasn't feelin good since he even considered not going in morn. which isn't like him at all. Usually counts the days down for me and asks all the time when is the next time. I did go the weekend after with some buddies for the day. It probably won't be till the end of this month before we make it down there.

Posted by: airmobile101

I might do Sunday, depending if its at St.Joe and if its early.I still need to go over my bike to make sure its still intact. That last race I did was rocky as hell.

Posted by: cmskms

Sounds good, it will probly be St. joes cause i told my son we would camp also. I got his fixed and backed together couple days ago. And he was really wanting to ride St. joes. Later

Posted by: cmskms

We'll definately be there this saturday and sunday. Anyone that wants to meet up let me know. Later

Posted by: honda rider118

I was there today. You might of saw us since we had a huge camper and red trailer but we were parked at the parking place where you park to go for the day. We took the camper because everything was reserved but we didnt know it. I rode the honda 450r.

Posted by: cmskms

Nah we ended up driving back sunday, my sons quad was running like s**t so we left. I went to little egypt in southern illinois this weekend. It was some really good trails, def going back there real soon

Posted by: jetta75

I will be there with 2-4 other atv's and a dirt bike or 2 this Sun. for the poker run. All adults this ride.

Posted by: private_alx

i go to st. joes all the time.
im buying a new atv deciding weither to get new raptor 660 or yfz 450 or even a polaris predator 500 cuz a guy is selling his for 2000 that he used to race.

Posted by: cmskms

Hey, yea sounds good. I'm across the river from STL in illiinois so just keep us updated on days you are going riding and where. Later

Posted by: private_alx

you guys usually ride on week days or weekends?
im planning on getting my new atv SOON hopefully.
im selling my yamaha raptor 80 (yes the youth atv) haha. so hopefully get the 1200 that i wanted out of that/.

Posted by: cmskms

Haha yea, the 80 might not have the power you need anymore. I'd go with the 450 if i was you. I love mine.

Posted by: private_alx

yeah 4 years ago my 80 had enough power when i was a noob at atving.
but i was 13 haha.
but i think im goin with the polaris predator 500 that a guy i know is selling just because he has so much extra's on it like the jet kit and all. all i would need to buy is a skid plate and that runs at 135 or so/.

Posted by: snacob14

anybody thinking of going out next Tuesday(veterans day), it might be kinda nasty, but that never stopped me before. I'd probably get there around noon

Posted by: private_alx

ill keep you posted. if i get my new atv and get a new hitch on me jeep deff. will be there

Posted by: z-mann

I am thinking about going Sunday.

Posted by: midwest honda

someone ought to get a group together so we can all ride at ST. Joes sometime. Lets face it, it sucks going riding somewhere and you dont know anyone else and your all alone. Who wants to break down out in the middle of no place with no one to help get them back?

Posted by: snacob14

I go quite often. We had five guys yesterday...we froze our nuts off but had fun. I'll post up next time I've got a group going.

Posted by: midwest honda

snacob how old are you and how far away from St Joes do u live?

I like to ride in spring summer and fall most but i ride all year round.

Posted by: midwest honda

ooh almost forgot what do u ride

Posted by: snacob14

I"m 28 brother. I live in Desoto mo, so about 30 minutes. I ride an 86 XC 250r

Posted by: airmobile101

Im gonna try this Sat. or Sunday early morning to ride. Gotta fine tune the quad and resolve any issues before the big dance on Feb. 07.

Posted by: airmobile101

Should be there around 8AM on Saturday. Heading straight from work to St.Joe.

Posted by: cmskms

Hey everybody, we're going to st. joes tomorrow saturday the 11th. I know its late but if anyone is going or wants to come let me know. We have several people going. I'll have my son with me so if any of you would be bringing your kids it would be cool. Let me know! Later

it was really good.
cool at night, so the fire felt great and you used the whole sleeping bag to sleep in.
the sand was just damp enough to keep the dust clouds down and the trails were tacky in the right spots..
if you had a utility, the holes were deep and the water was fairly fresh.(meaning they lacked that lovely "dead everything" smell)

something bad mustve happened, a helicopter came in around 8pm saturday.. never found out what the deal was.

there was a pretty big crowd all day in the bottoms.

all in all a 9.5 on a 1 to 10.

what part of illinois is coyote trails at

Posted by: RTJ

coulterville, il 62237

Posted by: airmobile101

Should be down there on Tuesday(16th) in the evening around 4pm.

Posted by: Aarons 01 400EX

Anyone going down this weekend? I want to do some riding on Sunday or Monday

Posted by: cmskms

We're going down to st. joes tomorrow, sunday november 1st. kind of last minute but it should be nice weather and riding. just going to be adults but if you kid can ride well bring him along. If interested, just get ahold of me. Later,
Chris

Posted by: jetta75

Your going to get wet. It was cold when most of us were wet head to toe. A group of 6 adults went today. Alot of the trails are covered with leaves so some are hard to see and rocks are hiding. We did dry out and had fun.

A group of adults/kids are heading down Sat. the 7th. Should dry out more and be good riding.

Posted by: represent618

going down tomorrow, should be prime weather!!
