Posted by: trailin'me

here are some pictures of my 700xx being reconstructed ... my friend rob working on it in our local shop ... note the bent steering stem.... more tomorrow.

Posted by: trailin'me

...

Posted by: CHIPPERBATES

how did the steering stem get bent? and also is that an FMF power bomb header, i've ordered the FMF factory 4.1 exhaust for my XX and was wondering what you thought of your exhaust.

Posted by: trailin'me

the powerbomb is loud ...and i honestly would strongly recommend a power commander or that fmf juicebox thing.... loud compared to stock at least...

ALSO >>>> you WILL NOT be able to fit any wide rear bumber/grab bar on this bike with the FMF 4.1 exhaust... the muffler sticks out too far and sits too high on the rear

bent the steering stem because some dumbass with a ute was standing in my path while i was climbing the side of abluff ... had to squeeze the clutch ... hit the brake ... all while damn near pointing straight up ..and the bike went over like atree falling...

these pictures area week old... trying ot figure out how to post a set of pictures in one response.

Posted by: CHIPPERBATES

THANKS FOR THE INFO, I DID ORDER A POWER COMMANDER AND MOD QUAD AIR FLOW SYSTEM FOR MY XX. HAS THE NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE? AND DO YOU HAVE A POWER COMMANDER? I HEAR THERE ARE SOME MAPPING PROBLEMS WITH THIS EFI CONTROLLER, IF WHAT I'M HEARING IS TRUE.

Posted by: jd400

I've got a HMF and a powercommander, and it definitely makes more seat of the pants power. I just used the map from dynojet for stock airbox, no lid and stock exhaust with no baffle. Then I adjusted the top end richer to compensate for the more open exhaust.

It made quite a bit of difference to me, at least.

Posted by: GE4x4

Does it look like a 10" wheel will fit? This is one big thing holding me back from getting one, no choices of wheels or tires for XC racing.

Posted by: CHIPPERBATES

MY DYNOJET POWER COMMANDER JUST CAME TODAY, AND I DON'T MIND SAYING THIS THING IS ALITTLE CONFUSING.I SEE THE 3 MAPS THAT COME WITH IT,BUT ON THE DYNOJET WEBSITE THERE IS A DOWNLOAD THAT SAYS ALL MAPS AND I'VE TRIED TO DOWNLOAD AND FOR SOME REASON I DON'T GET ANYMORE MAPS!WELL I HAVE UNTIL MONDAY TO FIGURE THIS THING OUT.MY FACTORY 4.1 COMPLETE SYSTEM COMES AND SO DOES THAT MOD QUAD AIR FLOW SYSTEM.SO I GUESS I'LL TAKE YOUR ADVICE AND DO MAP 3 LIKE YOU ARE DOING AND ADD TO THAT.YOU WOULD THINK THAT THERE WOULD BE MAPS AVAILABLE FOR ALL CONFIGURATIONS.THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!

Posted by: trailin'me

there are no maps just yet .but dyna is very good at support ...seems a few of us have the basic same config now .... ill call them in the morning and see if they can spit out a general map for an open exhaust and airfilter....

i strongly suggest making the low end a bit richer as well as it stands .. because it does like to stall in 1st...

and ..NO 10 inch wheels period.

Posted by: trailin'me

hows the 2bros exhaust>?

also ... talking with dyna on the phone ... my powercommander used the airbox removed / baffle removed map ...and added +7 to the entire map...

im using the FMF as i see pictured here ..with a velocity air filter.... and in gravel i barely hit the gas in gravel and rooster tails all over the place...

lastly ...how you like that elka stuff man? Mine should be here next week early.

just so you know for all ... RockyMountainatv has the oem dunlop rears for 104 each ..which is much better than 146 from honda....

Posted by: Dave01

The 2Bros pipe is sweet. A little loud, but I like it that way. Just finished putting the Elka stuff on last night and have only ridden out front of the house, but it feels soooo much more stable. I still have to do the power commander, but was a little worried about water issues. We have some fairly deep areas to go thru to get to the riding area. Thanks for the tip on adding fuel for the power commander. Hopefully mine will be here in a few days, and them she is ALL done, till I break something

Posted by: CHIPPERBATES

HEY DAVEO1 THE XX LOOKS GREAT, WHAT DID THE ELKAS SET YOU BACK, AND DID YOU HAVE TO ORDER THEM FROM ELKA. I LOOKED ON THEIR WEBSITE AND I DON'T SEE ANYTHING FOR THE XX.

Posted by: jd400

Lookin' good Dave, Lookin' good...

Chipper,

Elka does offer the shocks for the 700, they just don't have their site updated yet.

You can get them straight from Elka...the new shocks make lots of difference in ride quality and handling.

Thanks. The stuff came in just perfect. Nice packing job. I have this really good pic of a rim on my desktop background...LOL

Posted by: trailin'me

i just cancelled my order with elka. Im gonna go with some Fox air shocks instead ... they only have the fronts as we speak, but the rears will be ready in a couple of weeks.

also ..found some custom bead locks in 11" from OMF performace products (about 1100 for the fronts and rears with custom centers and bead locks)... apparently i ordered the very first set ..and will take about 2 weeks with powder coating ..ect.

maybe that will help with y'alls quest for stuff ... hopefully the maxxis razr's will be available soon.

itp says they will have some 10" avaialbe that will fit the 700 in a couple of weeks ..but to be honest ... the quad with a power commander tuned up correctly spins the **** outta 11" wheels and tires now ... i cant imagine having a 10" will do it any good ... and there is probably a very good reason Honda put 11" on there... you would have thought they would have put some 10" wheels/tires on the thing if it was the right thing to do ... so be patient my fellow 700 owners ... our time is coming

Posted by: trailin'me

new wheels ...

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/survey77/OMFwheels.jpg

Posted by: 08525IRS

those look sweet man! post some picks when its all mounted up. Whats the hold up on the rear fox shocks? I bet those are gonna make it handle smoothly.

Posted by: trailin'me

If you are interested in fox rears ..give them a call and ask for Mark. 1800foxshox .... seems Fox will be the official shocks for the circuits when this next contract is up ... which is starting next season i guess ...

anyway ... the rears are in development i guess... but ... Fox is working with Yamaha i guess ... and since the 700xx is new ..well you know how it is...

if 10 people will call and ask for rear shox ..then they will spit them out.

hell ..call them anyway and request them .. everyone.... haha.

I like it without the fenders. Did you have to fab brackets for the radiator guard?

Posted by: redline2008

The front bumper was not on the biek at the time I took the pic of the front shoot but I put it back on after, I will be picking up a new bumper for next year and hopefully some nice Fox or elka shocks.

And I did not have to fab up anything at all but there is a braket that holds the other part of the fender that needs to be cut I personally just left them there because they actually come in handy if you have to drive trought big puddles you can actually rest your feet on them lol.

The paint was peeling an (in it's peeling state) looked like poop.

Tomorrow I head out riding and it's going to be really messy. I'll need all the fender I can get.

I'll be posting videos up too probably around Monday.

Posted by: splicer525

10-4..

mine are powder coated so they won't peel, but they do have some scuffs and scratches. still look better than a cloudy silver

Ha!

Yeah, in the year that I've had the quad I've done that twice and the 1st time I was trying to skim on a creek. The rear end started sliding, caught and threw me off.

So far..knock on wood...it has never been upside down.

Just talked to a Fox rep and they are gettin a 700xx next week. So podiums and evols are coming very soon!

Posted by: SPDSNYPR

Cool vid, scuzz. Doesn't seem to have a problem breaking the rear end loose. Slides nice . . . . . right up until it rolls over anyway.

I want one terribly. Rode a 450r today just testing out toys. Still want the 700. Just not in the cards since I bought the boy a 250ex.
