***official 700xx Aftermarket Thread****

Posted by: scuzz

OK, as all of you other new owners of 700XX's out there are fully aware the aftermarket support for the 700XX is growing, but still in it's infancy.

I figured it would be really great and save a lot of people a lot of time if they had one thread to go to for anything new, or anything that exists that may fit our quads now.

*cough*rimsand tires*cough

Here's the format that we should follow so to help out each other:

1. List the main site (example: www.rockymountainatv.com)
2. List the url, or exact web address to the item.
3. If you bought it, what your thoughts are one the item and customer service.

I think two addresses are important because sites change and links go bad.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Well, I do not have any links, but I saw some parts on Wayne Matlocks 700XX at a race this past weekend. He had Laeger long shock arms on the front along with Elka shocks all around. He also had Maxxis Razr's on the rear. (Still had stock wheels though.) I do not know if any of this stuff is out to the public yet, but you could always call the companies and ask. The tires themselves I think are really rare, as Wayne only had one set. Front will not be a problem for wheels and tires.

Also, for those looking for a little more width, Honda front wheel spacers will fit on the rear. Wayne raced with them on his and had no problems. Looks like he was running the Rad Mfg type ones,(Bolt to the hub and then seperate studs for the wheel.) about a extra inch per side.

Thanks for posting that picture Scuzz, I was going to just have not had a chance yet. The quad looked really nice and sounded awesome. He had a custom made slip on that made it just sound mean. Here are some pics of Mike Cafro's 700XX that was posted on another site:

dood ..the quad is ridiculous torque monster haha. im on the phone daily with dyna sending maps back and forth trying to tweak out 1st gear launching (if you didn't know already ... this bike likes to stall easily). in other words ...there are no official maps for the 700xx as of yet ...

as far as top speed ...i really dunno ..but climbing these bluffs along the mississippi river (im in the st.louis area on the illinois side) nothing thus far can catch me ... maybe im fearless or this quad is just that badass.

Tires are 22x11x11. Those are stock 11" rims in those pictures. (I have not heard of anyone making 11" rims yet.) Maxxis makes the tires, but they are not available to the public yet.

In that pic up above they didn't actually cut the fenders in the front they just removed the front fenders and left the top plastics. I did it to mine also this weekend it is the grey plastic (or red) that goes over the tank and and on top of the front fenders. it looks crazy from the front but not so nice from the side view lol. and it is real easy to do. I will post some pics soon.

this is the before pic with the front bumper removed

ITP have some 10" x 7" T9 Pro Series Rear wheels listed on their web site. PN#1028430403

You have to download the "Wheel Chart" spreadsheet.....

They look to be a 3" out offset so I would think they would be a little bit wider than stock.

Linc

Posted by: trailin'me

i wouldnt put 10s on the quad ... honda doesnt recommend it either ... matter of fact .they strongly recommend against it.

OMF makes some good wheels in 11" with beadlocks ... Maxxis has 11" razr's ... i dunno what else you would want really ...there isnt really a tire that can hold the razr's weight honestly.

ITP is arrogant ... they want you to buy what they make ... Maxxis will make what is needed...

Don't let anyone fool you ..its very inexpensive nowadays to cast out 11" wheels ... same with tires ... and i dunno why ITP fails to do so.

There is so much wrong with your statment/s I dont even know where to start........

Posted by: trailin'me

there is not so much wrong with my statement. why on earth are atv owners limited to 8,9,10 inch wheels for sport quads?

My point is exactly correct. Why on earth would you buy something you are FORCED to fit on your machine? its a wheel ..not an engine.

larger wheels and tires would be more more inexpensive than buying totally new suspension for ground clearance issues for SRA designed quads.

I guess you dont see it that way... of course you dont.

Well, start somewhere. I want to know what is wrong with his statement.

You are a dick head.......on so many levels.

1. By adding the ability to use a 10" wheel you are increasing the choice to the consumer......your arguement is stupid. No-one is forceing you to use or buy anything. Use what you want, dont force your stupid opinions or products on me.

2. Not only does the 10" wheel give you more choices on wheels and brands of wheels; it also gives you more choice on what kind and size of tires you can use.

3. Ground clearance has nothing to do with wheel size you dumbass. Only tire size effects ground clearance........a 22" tire is 22" on a 8", 9", 10", or 11" wheel.

Linc

Let me guess; you just purchased DWT/OMF 11" wheels didn't you. You now have only one choice of tire to buy.........deep down you are a bit spewin' aren't ya.

It's OK........you'll learn.

Posted by: blbraptor

Does anyone actually know if a 10" rim will work on the XX? If the XX was capable of running a 10" rim I don't see why Honda wouldn't have put them on the XX from the factory. I definitely agree that a 10-inch rim would be ideal for tire choices, but my thinking is that they will not clear the rear suspension components inside the rim.

Posted by: trailin'me

10" wont clear the rear suspension without spacing the wheel 3-5 inches ... and then you gotta remove the mudscoop.

I'm with you ... there is a reason Honda put 11" wheels on the quad...and i bet they tried it a million different ways with 10" wheels.

Posted by: Blak92

All this bickering is bullS. Can we stick to the topic on this thread please????

ANYWAY...

Roll Design just released thier pegs and netted heel guards for the XX, nerfs will be coming soon... no pics yet though of the guards.

Proarmor is thinking about putting out pegs, but have only released armor so far.

Maxis said that razrs are about 6 weeks out untill we start seeing them really available, and they will most likely be adding the size to some sorta new lineup too that they are working on.

Posted by: trailin'me

i may have another set of 11" rears available ... i know its only 1 more set ..but maybe someone here could use them?

Im unsure of who i should sell them to if i do indeed get another set though.

um why would i be spewing. I gave him my opinion based on EXPERIENCE because I OWN a trx700xx and tried 10" wheels and tires.

Go back to austrailia goofball. there are only 3 or 4 tires you can get in 22 with 10r ... 1 of those is a sand tire and only am trying to have the guy avoid purchasing something out of haste regretting it 2 or 3 weeks later when the sizes are released.

spewing dood ..really get over yourself lol

oh..oh yeah ..when the guy purchases rear a-arms ... ah shyt my 10" or my 9" wheels dont fit ... hmm

oh wait ..lets go hit a double ..0r a 40" duneand land ..and break my rear end because of the unneeded stress of 3 1/2 or 4" of spacers.. and bend the wheel ... or break the center out of it entirely... then go to the hospital and fix your collar bone wishing you hadnt purchased the 10" wheel in haste.

Some people just dont think or something ..i dunno.

Bad advise from people like you do the hobby/sport ZERO good.

You might be a good guy ..but sit this one out ok.

Posted by: Colby@C&DRacing

That would make the 11" arguement a moot point.... good to know.

Posted by: blbraptor

But it does not answer the question as to why Honda put an 11-inch rim on the XX if a 10 would work in the first place.

To quote the movie Joe Dirt: "...how does a positive track rear-end work on a plymouth... I don't know... it just does"

I've been an mech eng for a fortune 100 company for 10 years. I'm sure they had their reasons, and those may have absolutely nothing to do with anything related to voice of the customer. Companies do stupid stuff like that, ...that has us consumers scratching our heads... Maybe is was cheaper for Honda to develop a 11' wheel or something. Who knows is my point... we may never know.

Hey but the good news is the aftermarket is on our side!!! If there is a need that someone will buy you can bet that someone is out their trying to figure it out. That's the beauty of a capitalist economy.

Posted by: blbraptor

I would think that the 10-inch rim is going to be very tight against the rear suspension components. Very tight. Not in a good way either!

Posted by: scuzz

They won't fit with the stock mud scrapers then.

I had some drilled and wrong offset 10" wheels on my 700XX and if you flipped them with a reverse offset they hit the A-arm.

Posted by: blbraptor

Like someone else said, there isn't very many 22-inch tires for a 10-inch rim either. I guess you could go down to a 20-inch. I would rather stay with the OEM set-up. You'll be able to get an 11-inch Douglas rim and 22-inch Maxxis Razr's pretty soon anyway.

Pretty sure he is running it, I know he had it on at the first few races because I saw it. Did not really pay attention at the last two races. I will see Wayne in two weeks at the BITD race, I will check it out and see if it is still there.

thanks buddy, they had some close up pics of the rear end but didnt see anything....LMK

Posted by: trailin'me

thats a pretty good question. thinking about it ... i dont think a sway bar would be needed in the rear for desert riding.... i think sway bars as intended are for side stepping hills and cornering ... but i don't know for sure... damn without a swaybar this thing would really be sweet on straight aways .

If he is using it, it doesn't seem to do much........check out the lean on this thing. Dont get me wrong he looks like he's haulin here.

Wayne had three 700xx's at the BITD race today, one for him to race, one for someone else to race, and one to use for spares. All three of them had the rear sway bar on them. As far as I know, he has never had a problem with them.

No problems with the sway bars on the 700xx. I have heard of problems with them on the Polaris IRS.

Can someone tell me if there is any differences between the FMF Power Programmer, HMF Optimizer, and Two Brothers Racing Juice Box?

They're all the same. The power commander is the only one that is different

Posted by: MFR

I think I am going to go with the DynoJet Power Commander III. any one have an opinion on a slip-on exhaust. I am Leaning towards the FMF Speed Muffler.

I REALLY like my shorty 2Bros pipe. ALOT. Look them up on ebay for an 06-07 Suzuki GSX-R 600/750. Autozone has the adapter exhuast pipe that goes from 2" to 1.5". Cut some slits in it and stick it all together and clamp it down.

I knew the 700XX had potential. I honestly thought the thing was a joke when Honda introduced it - I mean seriously 500lbs.+ with IRS? Once I started paying attention to it though I started seeing the benefits. This one ^^^ looks damn nice. What really got me believing was watching a couple of programs on the Baja 500 and 1000 and seeing Matlock's XX. It would be fun to build one just to have something different.

I just wanted to let everyone know I received my Stage 3 kit from Alba last Friday in time for the long weekend of riding. Here is a list of things I ordered and had done.

1) Stage 3 Desert & Endurance kit with the upgraded "hardened" rocker arms.
2) The head was ported and flowed with Alba's Superflow flow bench. The head port configuration included +1mm oversized intake valves as well as a
5-angle valve job.
3) Piston is forged and has an 11:1 compression ratio.
4) Camshaft with Alba custom grind specifically for the 700XX kit.
5) Valve spring kit with titanium retainers.
6) Throttle body taper-bored to 46mm.
7) Velocity Intake Kit
8) Power Commander V w/Auto Tune.
9) FMF Slip-on Speed Muffler.

I am very pleased with the kit and the performance is very good. I will do an oil change this weekend and get it over to DynoJet early next week and post my results.
Also anyone considering this kit, don't worry about down time Turn around is very quick and customer service is superb. I have never had anyone treat me as good as Matt. He let me know when he received my parts let me know progress and when it was shipping.

Here are some pics of the Auto Tune installed and my placement of the O2 sensor.

ONLY $1200 hahahhahaha

Posted by: 700xxOUCH

Just remember, the bigger the rim, the smaller the sidewall for the same height tire. I guess maybe that was Honda's thinking when the used the larger rim. I'm sure once upon a time, all other brand die hards were irritated when the 8 inch rims went to a 9 inch on their favorite model. Progress my friends cannot be stopped.

The only think I don't like about the rims that came with my 700xx, is that when they get dinged, they really cave in at the bead as they seem inherently subject to folding at the bead.

glad you find that amusing, i paid $895 for the a-arms on my polaris 450mxr...people piss and moan about prices of suspension components but they don't realize that the price of materials is not all that matters there is a serious amount of money spent in the suspension world for r&d

Posted by: Blak92

Never mind the dude thats running the CNC machine... or the guy with the mask on tig welding the arms together and thier salaries...
