My new DC Motorsports +3 chromoly a-arms showed up today. All I can say is WOW. These are too nice to get dirty

Thanks Dave!

Looks great , You wont be dissapointed with your new D.C. Motorsports A-Arms.

Does the 400 EX rear hub fit the splines of the Polaris axle? and what is the bolt pattern of the 400 EX?

Thanks

Joe

Yes the 400ex hubs fit (24 spline). Same bolt pattern as scrambler hubs.

Posted by: jjd223

By the looks of it you gained about an inch on each side,

nice.

Posted by: markvette

also if you want more width rocky mountain has hubs that fit the 400ex and they are 1 3/4" wider than stock hubs. if the 400 hubs give you an inch on each side then their hubs would give you 2 3/4" each side. i think they are only about $75 for the pair.

Thanks Mark,

cheaper and most likely lighter than wheel spacers

Is the scrambler wheel a 4/110 bolt pattern?

Joe

Posted by: markvette

yes it is a 4 on 110 here is a link to the hubs.

You're looking at the .125" gusset kit from Competition Engineering. I used a lot of these gussets on my drag car rollcage. Each package comes with 25 gusset. Available from Summit Racing for $13.95 + shipping.

SOLD I'm ordering those gussets Just to have around

Mike Kozura

Posted by: bulldogfallon

You can find them cheaper....

Email me I'll send them to you for .25 each

Half the price

It would make that chassis classy?

Posted by: etondaddy

That's my luck Gary..... a day late and a dollar short..... I have them coming w/shipping they come out to .95 each. I better start saving those ten dollar bills for Indy next year and quit wasting them. I know a few girls that are working there way through collage and can use the money.

I dropped off my frame and a box of parts at Mike's place tonight for powder coating.

Mike must not want anyone to find his house. 'cause every street sign was missing around there!

Yes, I agree. Way to go Brad

I'm just playing the waiting game now. I need a few parts from Brad and the powercoating to be done.

You guys are gonna have absolutely FANTASTIC racing weather this weekend. I'm hoping to be at the races sometime this weekend and get to meet some of you guys!

Posted by: dwhst9

Quick update,

Talked to Mike and it looks like he'll get my stuff stripped and coated sometime next week.

Mike, good luck with the new quad this weekend.

Posted by: etondaddy

Well it’s Friday night about 7pm…… just got done with what I had to do and getting ready to leave for High Point. From what I hearing Kyle had one hard day. The Honda wasn’t running right and his first time on a real track………… Ooooooooo boy he staled it a bunch. Thanks to Charlie McVay , Kevin Smitley, and Gerry Hixon. They found the new cdi bad and got it to run better. So last I heard he only staled it twice in the second practice and he’s real happy with that…….. And that he was at Dave Carter’s trailer getting his shifter shortened so his foot fits under it better. Poor kid he’s at a National with a direct drive shifter quad and has never raced it before………. Kids got bigger balls than I do. I’m very proud of my little buddy and would like to thank all that helped today. Rumor has it there’s 19 in his class tomorrow…………Oooooooooo boy. He’ll get the hang of it.

Mike Kozura

Posted by: jjd223

Mike,
Dont worry, Kyle will do just fine. and he is in very good hands if Dave is working on his bike.

Joe

Posted by: dwhst9

Looks like the parts are getting sandblasted tomorrow (Friday) and powder coated soon after.

Posted by: etondaddy

Well the frame's done............. hope you like it...... it's going to look wild in the sun with the chrome base coat. I planed on getting more pieces done today but............. I have no spark on the Honda and Missy just left to get a CDI to try........... it's getting late not sure if we're going to make R&D tomorrow or not....... he could sure use the seat time. I think it came out good...... I'm always hard on myself about how they come out...... it's got the normal amount of dirt in it..... lol. no down draft paint booth here pal lol.......

All yeah call the Polaris shop and get the snap ring that holds the steering stem bearing....... it went pa-twang off my snap ring pliers and I can't find it

Posted by: dwhst9

Mike, man that looks AWESOME!!! Looks like you powder coated the stuff on the shelves too

It looks better than I hoped for. That candy blue is sweet!

I can't wait to get everything back here and start assembling

Posted by: 300maniac

etondaddy did you make the cabnet? it looks like a great size

Posted by: etondaddy

Thanks.........

Looks like we're going to R&D the CDI worked about 11pm last night.

Yes the oven I build was an old cabnet from a shop at a concrete plant I used to work at...... the working area is 2x3x6 and mini frames fit good..... I've had a Harley Hog frame in it. I like my barn door track idea just spray open the doors and roll it in.

Posted by: dwhst9

Our new wheel & tires arrived from Recreation Tire. We got Douglas blue label wheels with holeshots on the front and snowhogs for the back.

I also have everything to reassemble the swingarm, axle and rear brake assembly.

Posted by: dwhst9

I got all the parts back from etondaddy today. They turned out fantastic! A big thanks goes out to Mike for his hard work on these parts!

Mike Kozura

I think their name was Barone. Two or three brothers owned the concrete business. They did our foundation and block work too.

I have a set of thread chasers that I'll use. You don't wanna use taps/dies for cleaning up threads.

Posted by: etondaddy

Carmen Barone and sons.............I know them well... they're very good. There's Carmen Jr., Joe, Tony, and Michael..... I remember when old man Carmen died I went to the funeral home in East Pittsburgh or East Mckeesport I can't remember...... but it looked like a scene out of the God father..... this hunky boy walked in with a tan pair of Dockers on in a sea of black pin stripes........ all eyes were on me until Tony came over and shock my hand.....lol and all the looks stopped. I've known them guys for a long time..... good people.

If you need anything just give me a call........ there's nothing on that quad that someone on this board can't help you with.

Mike Kozura

Posted by: dwhst9

Well right now, this new DG bumper for the Scrambler 50/90 won't bolt up to the upper mounts

Posted by: BradLoomis

Tie rods went out today. Don't know whether Fed Ex or UPS... but shipping confirmed that they shipped them.

These new a-arms cause the front tires to have too much POSITIVE camber. Even if we adjust the shocks to the softest setting, still a lot of positive camber. Dave Carter, any suggestions???

We put the quad down on the floor and I stood on the front of it and could'nt get rid of all the positive camber

The shocks are 10.25" eye to eye. I tried calling Dave Carter all day yesterday but just got voicemail.

Posted by: etondaddy

I'm sure Dave's at Muddy Creek National...... try him on Monday afternoon.

Mike Kozura

Posted by: qcitytile

If the a arms are for stock length shocks that could be why, because stock length is 9.75 eye to eye. We had a set of a arms that were for 10.5 shocks and we had stock length and they did the same thing.

Posted by: dwhst9

I spoke with Dave Carter this morning. I'm sending back his a-arms and he's gonna make us another set with the shock mount moved further out and we're gonna have to move the shock towers further out in order to compensate for the longer Works shocks (10.25" eye-to-eye). We think somewhere there was a mix up on the shock length for the 1st set of a-arms.

Dave said his single a-arm sales have started taking off again. He sure does build a work of art. The pictures say it all.

Thanks again Dave

Posted by: markvette

years ago i put a set pf plus 3 single a-arms on my sons eton. they were the first set built for 12" shocks. the bottom shock mount was way out there and the shocks were at a lot more angle than the stock a-arms and shocks. i ran this set up for 3 years and it worked awesome. we did not move the top mount.

Wouldn't that lower your ride height/ground clearance substantially?

here is a pic of the front end. this is the last mini i built for my son. this front end was on a 99 eton, a xtreme and this viper.

Posted by: markvette

yes i am sure he will. just trying to let him know we ran the shocks at more angle and had no problem with the set up. bubba has about 5 championship titles to prove that. moving the top mount will probably be better and i am sure dave knows tons more about it than i do but it worked for us.

Mark, thanks for your input on this. I'm new to this mini stuff, so I'm learning as I go At the very least, the a-arm shock mounts need to be moved out.

The DC a-arms are on there way back to Dave Carter. I've got the motor installed and the Predator AC bumper tweaked and installed.

I talked to Dave Carter today. Good thing I called him, he needed to talk to me and didn't have my number.

He sent me a sheet of paper with measurements he needs to build the new set of a-arms. I *think* he's also making some brackets to relocate the upper shock mounts.

My kid is going crazy not having his quad to ride

If Dave can get them done he should be at PVR this weekend...... I can pick them up for you.....or you guys should come to the track and check out the National.

I need to call him myself.... and remind him to bring my stock Honda parts.
