Does removing the metal jumper cause these to go bad? I had one go bad and my dealer told me that when i removed the clip it burnt it up.

It dosnt make it go bad that is the rev limiter by removing it it makes the rpms higher . The fact that it went bad has nothing to do with it . Just happens! You need to buy a unlimited cdi it will take the place of that one and it will be able to rev higher.
