Is the 36mm PWK a very big improvement over the stock 34mm PJ for riding in the sand?

its a big improvement for any type of riding , you will get better pull throughout the RPM range

Thanks, I will go ahead and get it. It is a used carb, will I need to make sure and re-jet it for the 250r or try to run it the way it is? I don't know what it came off of.

you have to rejet for your application ,if I remember 36pwk's came on 125 dirtbikes so theres a ton of'em out there ,
but there set-up for 125 engines

I might be wrong, because I've never run a stock carb, but I thought they were 35mm stock. Are they really 34?

Yea they're 34mm PJ's. Pretty small huh. Here is a link on Keihin's site with a little on it: http://www.keihin-us.com/am/products/pj.php

Are there exceptions who which carbs came on what? 36mm PWK's were on all CRs/YZs/RMs?

Looking to get one eventually.

I couldn't tell you for sure, but many CR250's have come with 38mm carbs. Keihin PWK's and Mikuni TMX's are pretty common on those bikes.
