I have a stock 04 400ex and I was wondering if the hot cams stage 1 would be a good upgrade. Or should I just get a new exhaust, air filter etc...

I would go with jet kit,good exhaust,and a good filter.Try that first.

yeah i agree. youd need the jet kit , exhaust, and intake to make make a cam worth while anyway. but thats just what i think.

Everything in the engine has to work together. The cam will let air flow better in and out of the engine, but without a filter and exhaust to help out, you wont be getting the full benefit of the cam. Not saying you wouldnt tell a difference, but it would just work better with the other stuff. So I also say start out with pipe and filter and work your way up.
