Just recieved mine today. It's early! Wasn't supposed to be here until Monday.

I'm impressed with how it looks. Pics to follow

The white stuff on it is lint from the paper it was wrapped in. This part is a thing of beauty. The exterior machine work is really nice, and it's one third the price of an Elka or Precision.

The adjuster turns clockwise for "Hard". There is no marking to align the adjuster with, and the adjuster does not have detents. Adjusted all the way to where it seats, it is STIFF. When you have it snugged (don't crank on it, just lightly seat it) the "8" mark on the wheel is pointing straight out. I marked the case with a Sharpie, and that's my index. Once it was on the bike I turned back to the "4" and the steering is much easier. If you back it off a couple complete turns I'm sure that it will be like having it "off".

Here's a pic fresh out of the box.

Here's another.

And another. Note the way I have it folded is opposite of the way it's mounted.

Posted by: bearair

Now for some on the bike

Posted by: bearair

Another angle.

Posted by: bearair

And the last one.

This was so easy to install that anyone that can pull a drain plug can do it. Literally took me 7 minutes to install. Sefl explanatory, which is good because there are no instructions! Looks good on the bike and I can hardly wait to try it out this weekend.

wow nice write up so far... make sure you write up a very detailed ride report after this weekend, i think i may buy one if it is pretty good.

$200 shipped. He lists them on ebay. I've read about them for a couple months but he didn't offer one for the 400ex until recently. When you purchase from ebay, you send him an email with the year of your machine and what steering stem it has. He says he has brackets to fit aftermarket stems.

do you like it?

I'll know this weekend. Didn't get to ride last weekend as my wife and I both had the flu. The weather was really nice too. Sucked. I'll update this tomorrow evening after I've ridden with it for a few hours.

Bearair, sent you a pm

Got a good 3 1/2 hours of riding in today. Here's the deal. YOU NEED ONE OF THESE! Completely changes the riding experience. I now understand the difference between a stick and a puck stabilizer. This unit was $50 more than the Billetanium stick we put on my wife's bike, and it's better by a factor of 10. You won't believe how much faster you can ride on the rough stuff. Keep in mind that I actually put the STOCK front shocks on since my 450r's are at C&D right now. The stock shocks combined with +2 A-arms are actually pretty good trail shocks! They just suck butt without a stabilizer. The rear end will get WAY out of shape before you run out of ability with the front.

My wife and I found some really interesting places to go today and both had a complete blast. Arm pump is WAY down, fun level is WAY up, and the ability of the front to soak up ruts, rocks and rapid camber changes is phenomenal. I was in fourth gear and revved up on sections of trail that would have had me swapping ends 2 weeks ago. It's that dramatic.

If you actually need to adjust the edges of the travel for racing, then the Precision is probably the only way to go. I think that the Custom CNC damper will satisfy everyone except for the small percentage of people trying to get the last couple of tenths off their lap times in "A" class. This is an awesome product for the money. No reason in my mind that I needed to spend the extra $300 on an Elka or Precision when I'm not in the Pro class.

I set the adjuster all the way snug clockwise, made a mark on the body next to the the "8", then backed it off slightly to where "4" lined up with my mark. I think if you back it off a couple turns from seated it's basically "off". I tried that, and it doesn't feel like it's doing much backed off like that. I didn't notice any drag when steering quickly left to right either. Just a WHOLE lot less tired when we got back. I could have ridden all day without being wiped out. Even makes the stock shocks behave which is a huge plus in my book given how they worked (or didn't) before.

Bottom line, money well spent.

This looks like a great product, just acouple questions. Have you contacted the maker of this product about rebuilding it. Does he sell a kit for the owner to do or do you have to ship it off. I like the product but I wouldn't want to spend that much cash if once it blows it's done.

bearair,
looks excellent, and very nice write up/performance review.

I just now went and did the "Buy it now", purely on your recommendation.

You are COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE for this,
(can you say..... A.A.D.S. ???),
and You are now, going to have to answer, to my wife!!!!

I already told her that it was'nt my doing,...
That I did'nt even WANT one,....
But YOU FORCED ME to do it....
you threatened me if I did'nt,...
(Yeah,...That sounds good, she'll belive me,... I just know she will)

You should be hearing from her shortly, I'm sure.
Boy, are you gonna be in BIG trouble now.

I think I need to call for an EMERGENCY Group Support Meeting,

"Hello my name is Ron,... and I am a A.A.D.S. Addict"

It's supposed to be. Thought he posted that in his listings. Looking at the way it's put together I can't imagine it wouldn't be.

Went riding again today on rough, nasty, rutted, hilly rocky, mining country trails, and the stabilizer allowed me to ride for 5 solid hours. I wouldn't have lasted much more than one or two before that.

I'm wondering how much better this is than a stick style stabilizer? I doubt it is that much better because is has the same adjustment as the stick so id asume not but who knows. It is trick looking though, I give it that

Having ridden with a Streamline stick and now this, I can say that it's WAY better than the stick. The stick helped but didn't get rid of the big hits the way this does. The quad basically goes where you point it now. Doesn't matter what the trail surface is like. Pick a line to run and just go. I can see what all the people that run a Precision are so happy about now. No wonder they can go fast.

** NOW HERE THIS! **
NOBODY is allowed to place an order until I get mine! I dont want the dude to be swamped w/ orders and not be able to get one.
Thanks for the write-up!

(Tri5ron, thanks for continuing to remind me that I'm not the only one w/ the disease.)

OK Bearair,
This is all your fault!
it is now 11:06pm, I've been working all day on getting the Camper and toyhauler ready for this weekend's trip, and I'm still sitting out in the driveway, waiting for the UPS truck to show up!

I'm leaving at dawn:30 friday morning, for a 3 day trip.

I WANT MY STABILIZER!!!

I'm not going to bed till it gets here.
I know he said I'll have it by Thursday, and thats only 54 minutes from now.
SO WHY ISN'T IT HERE YET !!!

Um, I think it at least has to be light out... Have a good time on the trip by the way!

Mine is supposed to ship today.

man i wish this guy had some when i was buying mine. by the time i was ready he didnt have any left and i bought an elka. make no mistake i love the elka, and i guess it just money but i would have used the extra few hundred on something else.

Posted by: LeGaCyGiAnT124

Like how much better is it. I am really into trail riding and when I bought the stick I was amazed with it. Is it that much better because it's a rotary style that stabilizes it even better? Like give me examples of the terrain and the differences between the two. When I used to ride in rocks before the stick stabilizer I have now I would get thrown all over the place and wear out really quick. With the stabilizer I can go top of 4th and bottom of 5th and ride all day with no problems until the end where I get a little bit of arm pump. Tell me everything you know haha.

i had a stick and went to the elka and the difference is enormous.

I've ridden with a stick stabilizer on my old 250 quadracer and the Streamline we just got for my wife's machine. The Custom CNC unit is better by a large factor. I rode in REALLY rough terrain last Sunday for 5 hours. We're talking rocky, rutted, steep hills, some snow, creeks, basically mountains and mining country. I felt feedback to the bars ONE TIME in 5 hours, and I was in fourth gear and hit an off camber rut on one side and a rock on the other. The bars twitched slightly. That was it. Pick a line, point the front end in the direction you want to go, the bike goes there. It's that simple. No corrections, no fighting to hold a line in the rough stuff, just riding enjoyment. The major problem that I can see right away is that I'm not getting as much of an upper body workout as I was before. I used to have to stop every 30 minutes to let my arms relax. Now we can just keep going!

Posted by: tri5ron

it's here, it's Here, IT"S HERE !!!!

As I opened the box, there was a bright light that shown from within, and the warm sounds of an angelic choir filled the air.

I stepped back in awe of that, what was before me...
The Beauty,...
The Refinement,...
The Glow,...
The Auora,...
The coming Extacy....

A Chesher smile grows ear to ear,
and my tempurature begins to rise.

my breathing has become short and rapid,
and tears of joy and excitement flow across my cheeks,...

as I HAUL-DERRIERE TOWARDS THE GARAGE !!!
GET OUT OF MY WAY! I need allen wrenchs FAST!!!

That is awsome

I think I might end up getting this in the future. Wonder how much I could sell my stick stabilizer for that is basically a brand new stablizer besides the body and clamps?
