Can you powder coat the OEM shock bodies or do you have to get them anodized?

I am sure it could be done the person to ask would be Pappy he's the powder coater and could give you the low down.

Sure it can be done, but the bigger question is SHOULD it be done. PC is a great thermal insulator, and would trap heat in on an item that the manufactures try their best to keep cool. And if coated, it is very possible that the thin body could warp and not seal properly.

in other words it can be done but it probally shouldnt be done. What do companies like Elka or Axis use on theirs? Anodizing or is it powdercoating?

so anodizing is just like chemical dying or what? Where can I get that done at?

Id say search locally ofcourse, maybe try industrial coatings in your local area.
If your the adventurous type, learn to do it yourself.
www.caswellplating.com
I will eventually learn to do this, but it will take a seperate shop as the chemicals involved require a different set up and wont work well with the pc shop

Their all inclusive kit to annodize cost 800 dollars, for that you could get aftermarket ones already annodized.
