Hi guys im new to the forum and new to quads. Ive always had motorcycles, boats, trucks, go cart, sleds, cars,..... but never a quad.

I just purchased a 1999 yamaha blaster(yes i know thats real small). i has a few things done to it, but i was wondering if there is some things that i should know or do to the bike to tune it up.

Fresh motor Many extras; wider rear axles, front wheel spacers, K&N air filter, new stock carb, new boysen reeds, Procircuit complete exhaust with u.s.f.p. spark arrestor, Renthal bars, new throttle cable, new chain and sprokets, Trenga Racing rear brake caliper with new pads, new front shoes, full body skid plate, nerf bars, aluminum rear rims with maxxis razr tires, paddle tires and wheels are included, aftermarket front bumper. The motor was redone this winter the oil pump quit. The motor only has maybe 10 hrs on it runs and idles great.

bet that thing hauls *****. i had a blaster about 2 years ago when i was smaller.. loved it but moved up to a 450

Yea it hauls pretty good. I took her out yesterday.

I was riding with my buddy who has a kawasaki 400, and he couldnt keep up with me. We were flying through the trails(my brakes arent hooked up), and i had to downshift to slow down.

My rear axles are sooo wide that i dont get any body lean. I just come flying around corners, and just keep giving it gas.

what size front wheel spacers do you have. what brand. i hear that front wheel spacers put to much streess on the ball joints and make it handle bad. whats ur experience with them.

hey srt, i recognized that blaster from the blaster forum...i'm the trailripper1500 on there. i haven't met anyone on both sites until now. you'll like ur blaster, but the suspension may be a little spongy, but no two quads are the same if they r used.

I'd really consider taking those front wheel spacers off. Only one minor benefit and a lot of cons to having them on there.

Hook up those brakes!.

what do they do?

Bike rides great, but lil small for my size.

The front wheel spacers...space out the front wheels...it makes the whole bike wider.

While it does help with 'stability' i guess, it puts a lot of stress on the other front end components and really messes up your steering/handling. I had some on my 250R when i bought it, took them off right away.

It increases bump steer, a lot. And will make your ball joints wear out prematurely.

I'd take them off, unless you ride fast on a very smooth rode in a straight line.

If you want to make your bike wider, save up your money and do it right, get A-arms/shocks.

k, thanks man that really helps

the rear end allready has Razr tires and wider axles. Im not too worried about how wide the front is. So ill probably pull the spacers when i get a chance

so the spacers arent for clearance or anything?

I rather doubt it, im sure it'll clear fine without them, and if it doesnt i guess you can just keep them on.
