I know that the Ltr uses the shim/bucket style valves.
From my limited amount of experience this would be very involved and challenging task for me to do.
I like to do my own maintenance and learn about my bike.
So the question is. How often do you guys adjust your valves. How long does it take? Is it hard to do for the first time?

no its not hard at all, just time consuming. I dont adjust mine til my bike gets hard to start lol and depending on how much adjustment you have to make to them and how many tries it takes you to get them right it could be anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours at the most

Ok, but don't you have to take the cams out?
This is a DOHC right?

Get a service manual.
Yes, it's DOHC. Yes you have to remove cams, but only if adjustment is necessary. I have an '06 that has not needed a valve adjustment yet, I check them regularly but have not needed to adjust them yet.
