does anybody know what year byrds 450r is. ive looked online but couldnt find anything... unbelevable

um know i just know how the quad is and I would like to know how much the 450r changed up till the 07

you have to understand... joe's bike or any of the proriders have very little, close to nothing stock. you could build up any year to ride like his, you just need suspension and all the goodies. as far as the engine goes the 04-05 once you get to the reallll high hp, this yrs head flows better.

Acually from what ive heard from knowledgeable sources the 06+ heads flow superior to the 05's, its the stroke of the 05 matched with certain motor combos, that builds big horse. For the average joe with piston, pipe, cam , porting, the 06 is a far superior motor.

Spoke to Brandon at DASA today. Joe's Quad makes about 70hp (at the crank i imagine) and they change out his Piston, Cylinder, and Valves for every event.

The 2005 has a stronger trans also, but the 2006 has a good air box and intake, good carb, no need for cdi just cut green wire. cost less to build big bore 2006. but if you want big bore and strokercrank 2005 has stronger trans thats what keith at DASA told me when i was at DASA. i have a 2006 trx450r keith told me to stay big bore no strokercrank bcuz of the 2006 weaker trans.

byrd uses the 05 tranny and uses i would imagine everything else 08 it says it in his interview in atv sport i think or dirt wheels dont remeber

That was in Dirt Wheels but they have no idea what is going on. You can see in the pictures in that same artical that the cases are clearly 04-05 cases. I don't think it is even possible to put a 04-05 tranny in 06-08 cases. If Honda was smart they would go back to the 04-05 450R with some updates like 12:1 piston, FCR, improved head and airbox design etc. But more then likely for 09 they will do something stupid like put EFI on it.

I am almost 100% sure that you cant put a 06 or newer tranny in a 04-05 bike 2 differnt motors. plus all of joes bike have a oil cooler as well. But at Alabama this year we saw his race bike without one but it had caps over it so i dont know what the deal is their. Its not only the motor that makes people really like the 2005's its also the spindles, on the 05's they have a differnt scrub ratio which makes the bike handle better in corners you can run a more positive caster and still be able to turn the bikes in a tight corner. I know of alot of peolpe that change their 06 and newer spindles with 05 ones. just one more thing i think i was reading somewhere that this is the last year that Joe can run a 2005 bike i think their is a rule that says you have to ride a bike that is no more than 4 years old or that have been out for 4 years. But i am not 100% sure about that one.

yep, there's a hamologation rule for the Pro class. I thought I was told it was 3 years but that could be wrong.

i dont think you can run a o5 trans and o8 motor plus the 2005 has a bore and stroke that when built makes a good race motor pakage. 2006 and up not the same bore and stroke as 2005.
