So yesterday I went to some local dunes with a group of friends and all was going well and then disaster. My EX was running great and then in 4th I goosed it a little and no juice so I stopped and then started her back up and I hear a horrible knocking. I got towed back to camp and decided to look at my oil filter and there were metal flakes everywhere. I don't know exactly what I did but I think I threw a rod bearing. Help me out guys my mods are in my sig and they really aren't the kind of mods that would blow a motor up.

was your timing off?

I don't know but the motor was bone stock internally thats what is weird about it.

how long have you had your hotcam in?

That's the thing though is that the Hotcam never got in. I was waiting to get the 416 in before I put it in. It's still a bone stock motor. I have all the parts waiting out there but never got the time. That's why I find it hard to believe my 400ex blew up.

very weird but..how well do u maintain this bike? was ur oil low? and i guess ull be starting that 416 earlier then u thought

That's odd, but sounds like you might have spun a bearing. Don't hear that much on Honda's but I've had a Suzuki and Yamaha do that.
Good luck and wish you a speedy rebuild!

Maintained meticulously. Full tank of oil everything checked out perfect just a fluke I guess. Less than 15 hours on it is the worst part of all.

Did you check your jetting? Besides It now just gives you a good reason to rebuild
