looking to buy a 2005 trx450r with a 480cc big bore kit etc,etc and want to know what are the common faults and fixes so i can make an educated decision.
i hear about the older honda motors (2003 etc)dropping valves but am not too sure as i owned a 2003 CRF450R with no problems and was wondering if its just a myth.
thanks for any help you can give

Word, I don't kno that I would buy any used quad with a big bore unless it was just like a 416EX, there are too many variables that could have been overlooked in the bottom and top ends when boring or stroking. Make sure you check out the bike really well...

It looked to me that he wants 35,000 dollars ?that quad is worth maybe half that at most being used!Lets add it up 7000=quad,3000=motor work,3000=suspention extras 2000=15 thousand {estamated value not 100%correct} plus being that its a 2005 3yrs used not worth it buy new and do the mods you want!

he is from africa and may not know how to change the currency to the dollar.

gee thanks for the advice so according to your calculations it is worth $15000 which is R120 000 here in south africa and he asking R38 000 so it is a bargain, great i think i am sold or maybe i buy it and ship it over to the us for say R15 000 shipping and import costs and sell it up there for like $10 000 and make a hugh profit cause $10 000 is R80 000.so R80 000 - R38 000 is a R42 000 profit which is $5250. im only thaking the mickey cause i said in my original post to divde by 8 to convert my local currency (Rands) to dollars cause when you do the conversion they are priced very close even though its different coutries.
thanks for the figures on the upgrades though as i had no idea what they cost.

unfortunately i did mention that you should divide by 8 to convert to dollars.FYI i am getting a quad because the elephant i ride around has gotten old so we decided to retire her and let her play with the other elephants in africa.i was going to get a lion but decided riding a quad might be less life threatening.
