I am 6'3" and 280lbs.... just wondering if there are any other big guys out there riding a YFZ? i came upon a 2007 bill ballance yfz450 for cheap as hell and was wondering if this thing is gonna work for me... i have a 400ex right now and it is good for me.... just wondering guys

im 6'3" as well... but i only weigh about 210 right now.

i have never had any problems with this thing wippin me around!

i think you should be okay. i have doubled with my girlfriend for like 2 hours one time and i felt bad for the bike because of all the weight i was putting on her... but she seemed to pull just as hard and ride just as nice..

so thats 210 + 115 = 325#
i wouldn't suggest that much weight on it.. the Yamaha manual says only as much as
220# i think.... but im sure that there are alot of riders out there on YFZ that push that limit all the time

go for it man!

im sure that you will be very happy with the performance

6'3" 250 here. just got mine 2 weeks ago but no problems so far. i was riding a 300ex before that. i felt sorry for that bike. lol. i have axis dual rates in the front and a c&d redone stocker in the rear. last weekend i was hitting every trail and climbing every hill my buddy was on his 450r (he's 6'3" 190)

some people dont like the ergo's on the yfz's, it feels really low, if you feel comfortable, it will pull you fine, worst case scenario, just get some taller bars or a longer stem. i would make sure your comfortable on the machine though.

6'4 250lbs, i have no problems with any of my quads, plus half the time my gf rides with me on the back, shes 120.

I wouldnt suggest going off an 60ft jumps the suspension probably bottoms out pretty good.

But you should have no problems.

Although you should buy a HONDA

I went from a 400ex to an 07 YFZ and would never look back. I dont have much seat time on the YFZ yet but from what I have ridden I can tell you I am impressed beyond my expectations! I wanted a bike that scared me - something that gave me the same rush that my old 2 stroke quadracer 250 did...and I got just that...
You have some size over me - I am 5-11 180lbs, but the power difference between the ex and the FZ will certainly work in your favor!

FYI I did also fee the YFZ felt a little "low". I put a new stem on this evening but I bought it because the stem that came on the 07 was bent really badly (previous owner was a choad) - the new stem I bought is a +1 and I will let you know the difference.

I just went from a 300ex to a yfz450 and there is no comparison between them. The yfz has so much power and pulls hard all the way around. I am happy that I bought it, it has been a great bike so far.

I am 6' and 160lbs and i feel like i would be more comfortable with a taller steering stem. so that is something to consider

Thanks guys, i appreciate it... i was thinking maybe a +1 stem is in my future but all in all.... the quad is amazing to me!

im 6'3" and 180lbs and it feels fine maybe need a new stem.

Posted by: 2tonept

i just picked up a houser +2 stem. 1), i'd like it taller because i'm tall, and 2) my current stem hits my big tank and i'm not liking the marks it's leaving in it.

Posted by: leveldrummer

with a taller stem you might need longer control lines, some can be re-routed to make up the difference, and some can be eliminated all together. just make sure when you install the new one, all cables move freely as you turn it bars all the way.

Posted by: THORrider350

Thank you i will def. look into that... anyone know where i can get a +2 stem at a decent price?

Posted by: THORrider350

Well i went out at 11am this morning and picked it up....

Posted by: THORrider350

4 hours later.....

Posted by: leveldrummer

so how did you like it? looks like you had a good time! lol, did you get use to the ergo's or are you still gonna try a new stem? (you need to change your signature!)

Posted by: mbx5

I finally got to do some riding Friday evening on mine....what a difference from the 400ex!! Definitely what I was looking for.

Posted by: THORrider350

Yeah it was pretty amazing riding today, i loved every second of it! I still am gonna get the +2 stem just cause on my 400 i had like high bend bars and it felt a little awkward today but honestly not horrible which i was expecting.... all in all, i am a happy dude!

Posted by: leveldrummer

you could save a ton and get some risers or some higher bend bars too, if your not a serious racer that is.

Posted by: THORrider350

anyone know where i can get risers from?

Posted by: leveldrummer

here is just one set.

if you check with site sponsors, or look around, you can easily find other, probably better, setups.

Posted by: THORrider350

Thanks man i appreciate it, i just ordered them and hopefully get them before the weekend so i can try them out this weekend...

Posted by: #17YFZRACER

make sure you break it in right. the difference between a properly broke in motor and not is huge down the road. im sure you knew that just thought id say it

Posted by: Simon MX49

Good choice man

I'm 6'1, only 150 pounds, and the +2 stem made a world of difference for me. I would go with Burgard, it was only 200 bucks. I bent mine, but when the dumbass in front of you slams on the brakes on top the jump, and you just hit the jump 4th gear TAPPED OUT (Seat bouncing), you have no where to go. You'll be alright though, mine hasnt bent from my other MULTIPLE roll overs

you might want to stiffen up the shocks cause im 200pds and they are a little to soft for me, on the big jumps, but a company called trailtech has a sick *** chrome riser that is solid and is made specifically for a 450 and says 450 on it so it is hella safe and it raises to a perfect hieght.

or for 7/8 bars

They are 1 1/8" I do believe.

Posted by: #17YFZRACER

they are. the 07+ all have the "fat" bars.

hey bro, thats a good looking bike, ive got the same one, and i also went from a 400ex, to the yfz450. ive had mine for about 6 months. and im just now able to hit jumps in 4 gear.the biggest ive gone is a 25' tt. i will say. my bike has never gotten that dirty.lol. i dont even go in the woods anymore. since getting the 450 i ride nothing but track...

Posted by: THORrider350

LoL.. yeah that actually is the dirtiest i have gotten it, the first day haha... I am trying to stay clear of the bad mud stuff lately... just been hitting the hills and loving every second of it!
