heres how my dyno session turned out this weekend. i made a little less hp than i expected, but way more torque than i expected. i guess i have some serious mx style porting.

the bike is '86 250r
4mil stroke
5mil long rod
bored to 69mm (i cant remember what stock is)
pro design cool head
ported cylinder (the side says EP '99)
keihin pj 38mm carb
k&n filter, no air box
fmf fatty gold series pipe
fmf power core II silencer

i believe it's roughly 272cc.. not including the stroker crank.

what i'm talking about is... bluetrx said the motor was bored to 69mm.... and he said he didnt know what cc's that came out too.. so that is why i wrote that.

Sure doesn't seem like very high HP numbers...

I think that Pipe might be holding you back. Should be able to get near 50 with that much done to the motor...

bluetrx... give us some more details on this pull you did... was you running slicks? or knobby's?

those are good numbers for a stock jug bike..

did this dyno session at craz e dealz in north bend oregon. the operator put on "dyno tires" they were hoosier radials. the cool head dome started out as a 23cc i think but compression was way too high (over 300 psi) so i had the combustion chamber machined larger to get compression down to 225psi. i know my 75.6 mm stroke and 69mm bore makes my bike a 283 what i couldnt remember is what stock bore was. i love the way my bike runs it rolls onto the power band pretty smooth and pulls hard right from the bottom. do you know if i put a horsepower pipe on it how much i should expect to lose in torque?

what stock bikes have you seen making better than 42hp. i did get a chance to race a couple of stock 450s, a yfz and a trx at winchester bay this weekend and killed them, beat them by at least 10 bikes no joke. the guy on the yfz said he was having trouble keeping his front end down with the stock length swingarm, the guy on the trx just left.

bluetrx, I would wonder if the cylinder was ported for a std. stroke motor and you now have a stroker crank. The porting would be different when using that crank and can make a big difference. Based upon your dyno graph I'm guessing you don't have much exhaust duration and a lot of tranfer duration.
I'm also not a fan of FMF pipes. I did a 4mm stock cylinder at .060 over and it had something like 32 torq and 51 hp. I think its posted up in the dyno forum here.

Hey man are you dreaming ? A stock 250R has no where near 40 hp they have around 28-30 hp stock.

The dyno sheet looks legit to me. Most likely its making peak power at 6.5k (instead of making more peak power at a higher rpm) because of the porting/stroking/pipe/etc combination.

Just for comparison, the owner of this bike says it has:

OEM cylinder with my own porting
Cool Head with custom cut dome at ~ 21.5 cc (15.16:1 UCCR)
Keihin 38 PWK A/S carb
Open K&N filter attached to stock airbox to carb boot
VF3 reeds
Wiseco piston
+4mm crank with 130.3 mm rod
ESR TRX 11 center mount pipe
CR ignition with CR Dyna CDI
Track Tek TT111 fuel with Castor 927 at 32:1

Notice the difference in how the curves are shaped and at what RPM things are happening? Maybe bluetrx would rather have strong, early power instead of 55 hp 2000rpm after his current peak [shrug]. Peak hp isn't everything. The area under the curve is important too.

thanks gpracer thats a great comparison, the specs sound alot like my bike. i forgot to mention that i am also running vf3 reeds and i also have a cr ignition. the only diffrences are the carbs mines a pj his is a pwk, the pipes fmf vs esr, and the porting. i think your right about my porting, i dont think the better carb and pipe would make such a huge diffrence. i have been thinking about getting a 44mm lectron carb, but it sounds like a cylinder swap might be a better idea right now.

ive dynoed at the same shop with another friend and the dyno operator is competent. my 450r made 47hp 31tq and my friends DASA made 51/30. i think the dyno is a little stingy but they dont all read the same.

i guess we cant all have 100 horse like your 265

when i dynoed there i was a little bummed about the power numbers. i expexted to break the 50hp mark. it didnt happen, but i am really happy with how my bike runs. i dont get beat by many.

i am guilty of caring what the dyno says like many others, when in reality its a very good tool for tuning but doesnt always show the whole picture.

banshees can be very fast. i have seen "drag" banshees spank very fast sport bike motored quads easily. a stock banshee is nothing to brag about.
