well i ruined my rear bearing holder and the sprocket holder. the bearings blew out and gouged the areas very badly. i need a new bearing holder and sprocket holder. i was wondering if the sprocket holder can be removed from the axle.. or is it permenantly pressed on. i would hate to have to buy a new axle too. also ,, would it be worth it to spring more $$$ for a Double-Wide Bearing after market carrier?
thanks,
dave

on most axles the sprocket hub CAN be removed, theres a snap ring in front of it that needs removed, then the hub can be slid off, it requires patients and some time but you can pound it off,
i also recomend an aftermarket carrier, mainly because there stronger and greaseable- most of the time

thanks.. i will try it... i mean,, what else do i have to lose. i was told by a few mechanics that this cannot be removed.. i called the local honda repair center, they said the same thing (altho u know they just want to sell a new axle)

anyone know where i can get the o-ring sets for the axle and the carrier.. looks like my replacement axle will not include them. i am gonna buy an aftermarket carrier.. not sure if it will come with the outside o-rings, honda shop? online?
thanks,
dave

if your talking about the o-rings that go on the carrier its-self, aftermarket carriers do not require/use them
