ok i just built my son a mod w/ a cr85 motor and it is running 185psi and i was going to spike the gas w/ octane boost. are there any ill efects w/ running octane boost in a 2 stroke?

No it will be fine, why do you think it would have an effect on a 2 stroke ? Its just octane booster.

i would do a mix of 93 and race gas. no octane booster for me.

I don't like octane boost either. My friend put too much in his cr250r and we didn't finish our ride. Melted the piston, I think he put too much in.
I vote race gas and 93 mix too.

I also agree with mixing race gas with 93. The race gas will raise your octane and burns super clean.

You can also run 100% 100LL Av gas. I run that in my snowmobile insted of VP 110 and its runs good no problems. I'm going to run 100LL av gas in my modded 250R i'm building insted of mixing 50% VP with 93 octance, its alot cheeper than race gas and I never had any problems with it.

my buddys all run turbo blue 110 race gas and 93 mixed 50/50

thanx. besides the turbo blue what other race gas mixes well w/ pump. i have tried c12 50/50 in my 450r and it never ran right. others say the same.

Are you sure you had the jetting right ? Most of the time you need to re-jet when using diffrent fuels because all the diffrent kinds of race gas burns at a diffrent tempature even if they have the same octane rating. All types of race gas will mix the same with 93 octance.

yea i run a mix of 100ll and c12 works awesome

Most octane boosters are complete crap, absolute garbage. They often leave a residue that can gum things up.
A lot of the problem is the mentality of "If some is good, then more must be better".
Take Tetraethyl lead (TEL) , for example. Leaded race gas is very common, and it's a very effective octane booster (in small amounts). For example, 1 gram of TEL added to 1 gallon of gas will give you a 1 point octane boost. However, 10 grams will only give you a 4 point boost. Too much lead and you get buildup and deposits. Some is good, but a lot is bad.
Some octane boosters, although effective at increasing octane, will kill throttle response. I'm not sure of the actual method, probably poor vaporization or poor atomization characteristics.
Also, some additives are expensive, and therefore you won't find those additives in your average off-the-shelf octane booster.
Many of these additives truly are effective at increasing octane, and are found in actual race gas. However, race gas starts with a much better blending stock than normal gasoline, and uses the various additives in the best possible ratios and amounts for a given application.
However, your average octane-booster is just a collection of the garbage and cheaper additives, in huge amounts.
Stay away, stay away.
