new l/c 90 son sayes every time he takes off and on the way up hills the fourwheeler makes a clicking sound I would compare the sound to the chain jumping but chain is good any INFO would be great son weights about 100lbs .Could it be trans or clutch?????

It could be the transmission. We had one act like that and 4 teeth on the output shaft had cracked and bent slightly causing it to catch and make a noise when it got around to those teeth. Also, check to see if there are any marks on the frame cross tube right above the chain. The chain will slap there sometimes and make a noise.Have you jacked it up and rolled the rear tires to see if you can hear anything?

Yep, Sounds like the begining of a tranny going bad. Pull the cover off and check 'em out. ALSO, do yourself a favor and buy one of the small rubber rollers (chain guide rollers) I believe 32mm or 35mm and a long enough bolt and replace your motormount bolt so that the chain will hit and roll on the roller before it hits the frame.

Are you checking the chain with the rider on the quad?

The chain loosens as weight is applied.....

100lb rider going up a hill can cause the chain to slip on the sprocket
