I was looking to get a YFZ to race in hair scrambles, but something hit me and i was like maybe a rap 700 will be a good alternative.

So is a Raptor 700 good for Hair Scramble racing?

And some opinions on a Raptor 700 vs a YFZ for Hair Scrambles.

Most guys will tell you get the 450. I agree the 450 is a great xc bike.

I have a yfz and a 700, i prefer to run the 700 in the woods. Im only 150 lbs its kinda bulky but i have it setup pretty good now and love it. I can stay in third through the tight stuff then just throttle out when an opening comes. The torque/grunt is amazing very very rarely do i ever stall it lugging around, where the 450's like to be revved more.

Plus I use reverse at least once a race wether it be in a mud hole, bottleneck, tree whatever. W/ the dr d reverse lever on the bars it saves me lots of time from getting off and dragging the bike out of stuff.

Im not sayng the 450 isnt a good choice by any means like i said i have one. I just set it up for mx. Personal pref. Im currently holding 1st in a class of 450's with it
