My kfx450 blew up this weekend the rod split around the wrist pin and then went though the front of the cases and then hit the transmission and did a whole lot of damage hope the warranty covers this

what work do you have done to your bike? how long have you had?

Posted by: woodsZrider

were you racing????
what type of oil was you runnin?

Posted by: orang_kawa

ive been on the bike hard for the last six months racing it i have a ported head and a 13.5:1 cp piston in it. It didnt mess nothing up but the bottom end the topend is fine. My local dealer is trying to get it warranted for me cause of the way the rod broke has anyone had a problem with the rod breaking

Posted by: slvrhwk

That sucks.

Hopefully your dealer can work something out for you, but with having added compression I would think the warranty would be voided

i hear alot the the cranks cant hold a hi comp piston to good. i hear of this happen alot on stock cranks with hi comp pistons. but never heard of it with stock pistons.

my local dealer didnt tell them about it but since i race them they didnt want to help but they bought the crank the cases and the counter balance i had to buy the bearings and the the couple gears that got hit in the rods pathway

hey orang_kawa, what year is yours? do you think Kawasaki fixed this for the 08's? i hope so cause ive only had mine for a few weeks, and im gonna start racing and its all stock. i run Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in mine

Posted by: walshyfz86

ive seen this alot in 07's with lack of oil to wrist pin. almost same as a yfz ****brick. What year is yours?

Posted by: hondaracer_34

mine is an 08'

Posted by: 08mxkfx

there all 08's they never made an 07 model. Mine was the first one bought from my dealership when they first came out and mines 08

Posted by: hondaracer_34

ok, didnt know that lol.

I've heard of alot of crank bearing failures in 04/05 hoda's where they bump up comp but don't replace crank bearings or beef up crank. i heard yoke had a similar problem in ohio last year but that was a BIG motor!!! I use amsoil, i freshened the top this winter and the wrist pin was gauld a bit, but not as bad as i've seen.
