i was wondering if anybody has an enclosed trailer and how you like it . i want one just big enough for my 450 and some tools to race this summer instead of using the truck bed. if anybody knows a good spot to get one for a good price that would be sweet.

I have a friend that has an enclosed as well as an open. He pulls his open trailer more than his enclosed because of the wind drag and the horrible gas mileage he gets with his enclosed. I was considering getting one until he talked me out of it. I got myself and open trailer instead.

I have a 14ft.' Haulmark V-Nose low hauler.. I love it.. It was a bit pricey but it's loaded.. It pulls excellent and I can get two 450's and a smaller quad in it sideways and have plenty of storage room....
I went with the enclosed trailer for the extra security while it's sitting in the parking lot..

It's a good shelter too at the races...

I would go with an open trailer if you're just headed to a local riding spot.. But if you're gonna be loggin some miles and leaving your toys in a parking lot, I would recommend the enclosed trailer...

i have a ford ranger so i cant have a huge trailer. i just need a small one for one 450. how much do you think a good used one would be? i need it for the security at the races over night. i have no idea about used prices.

We have two that we use for trips to the sand dunes and racing. Once is a 24 ft vnose United and the other is a 16 ft Haulmark. Both are great trailers. I prefer the 24 ft because it is 8.5ft wide and we can get 7 quads (4 400's, 1 Raptor, 1 Rincon, and 1 Fourman) in there with plenty of gear.

If you are looking for a small one I would try to find a 6x8 that is a deckover (floor is above the tires). This way you can put your YFZ in there sideways and have 4 ft extra for tools and gear. If you are going to be pulling it with a Ranger make sure that you load it properly. Put the tools up front, quad right over the axle, and light stuff in the back. Ranger's are decent trucks, but not the best tow rigs, even with a small trailer.

A buddy of mine has a small 4x6 enclosed for work that he hauls tools around in. One of these would even work for a quad, then get a locking topper for the truck for the tools and gear. Keep your eyes open and check on craigslist.com.

Edit: I just found a 5x8 in Indianapolis for $1000.

Keep you eyes open and you might. If you find one you like but the price is a little too high don't be afraid to make offers. Cash in hand goes a long ways.

you will be very hard pressed to find an enclosed worth owning for less than $1000.

I had a 5x8, and now have a 6x12 and 8.5x24, great to have for long weekends riding and racing, lets you keep all your tools parts and gear ready to roll.

Be careful of how much weight you put on a trailer behind a ranger. I am assuming it is a 6 cylinder and not the 4, so the motor should pull it just fine. How the tranny and brakes take it may be another story. What tools do you take? Generator? Compressor? If a whole lot you may want to look into a trailer with brakes, and a controller for your truck. If you have to go over many mountains or stop and go, it is super hard on your transmission and brakes (especially your brakes). My buddy was pulling a super modified dirt track car (about 120 miles round trip over a couple of mountains) and tools in one of the smaller HD Chevy full-size pickups. His trailer has brakes, but he didn't have a brake controller in this truck yet, and his truck brakes went out about half way home after the race.

Make sure you have the trailer loaded in a balanced manner so that it tracks straight, and it is not walking all over the place behind you.

Dude if you are in Indiana, that is the Mother State of trailer manufacturing. You can buy dealer direct and save $500 or more dollars on transporting alone. I think Hallmarks and Interstate trailer and many more are made there.
