i am splitting the cases on my blaster and i was told i need a crank shaft puller/installer tool where can i find it? in the manual it shows a puller and gives you a part number but i cannot find it.

another question the main bearings do they have to be pressed on? the crank can it be pressed in?

as for the puller/pusher not sure, not cheap. (motion pro)
i did the freeze the bearings, warm up the case method for installingthe bearings. also will work with the crankshaft asm.
freeze the crankshaft asm and warm up the case to about 200F.
you only need to worry about the magneto side.

so the bearings do have to be put into the case. what did you use to get the crank out?
thanks

Ok, motion pro makes the tool. i did a yahoo search for "yamaha crankshaft removal tool"
try stadiumyamaha.com or motorcyclecarbs.com to see what i'm talking about.
you might be better off just taking the crank and case halve to a machine shop and have em do that one step for you. unless you plan on doing alot of crankshafts the tool is costly.
