A-Arms

I tryed my friend yzf 450 this week end and I realy like the wider front end. Now I am looking to get new set of A-arms for my 400ex. Is + 2 too wide for trail riding or shoud I go +1? I don't ride mx track.

I recently installed +1 Housers, and would recommend those to anyone doing that type of riding. I'm a trail guy too, and +1's were already noticeable on tight trails. I do like how they handle, but it does change your turning radius for sure. My opinion is that 2's would be to wide for fast, tight trail riding, although they're pimp for MX.

I always said I was going to get +1 a-arms on my 400ex because I really only ride trails. Yesterday i went riding and its then I relized that +1 with 450r shocks and revlaved and resprung would make the ride height lower which makes the front end wider and I wouldnt be able to fit they would just slow me down. I try to go fast on really tight trails and trees will be skimming your tires. I cant have anything wider than the rear which is around 46" and +1 a-arms is iffy because shocks will lower the ride height making the quad a little wider. Yesterday I went slow because these 2 trees were really close and the front just made it and I watched the back as it went through and sure enough bark from both trees was scrapped off from my tires. Maybe your trails dont have areas where its that tight which i think +1 would be ok but +2 I cant see you ever fitting through many trails. I saw a guy try to trail ride with +2 on his 400ex and he could only go on the main trails which most of the time those suck because so many ride them.

Thanks,

would +1 or +2 raised or lower my front ride height?

What do you guys think of those A-arms on e-bay?

ASR or Full flight? They claim to have a Lifetime Structural Warranty.

I am also looking at Houser and Lonestar.

The thing that sucks is that most companies if they do make a +1 its a +1 up 1" which makes the handling worse than stock. The only quad that has been known to actually handle better with a up 1" a-arm is banshee's.

Are they "1 up" or "1 forward" ?? Or is it the same, just a different description??

I am sure there are some of each, but wonder what the + forward does to the handling. I have seen some of the Housers advertised as just +1, and other Housers advertized as +1" / +0.5" Forward.

I could see an advantage of many a half inch increase in wheelbase, but my understanding is that anything like an inch or more was only benificial on the 250R and Banshees and actually hurts the 400s. Must have been a "2 stroke thing" :-)

In the end I guess it all gets down to rider preference and type of riding.

BUT, it is an interesting subject and I would like to here more from those that have actual experiance as I am on the market for new arms. Had settled on the Houser +1, but can always change my mind concerning "0" or "+X" forward.

I think I will go plus 2 but I am not sure yet. Can you guys post some front end pics of your ride with +1 or +2. That will help me make my mind. Any of you know what +1 forward are good or bad for?

+2 Housers on an 07. The brake lines are not on yet but you get an idea about the arms. Please excuse the garage i was painting the kids room and have all their stuff in the garage.

Thanks boosted3g and buster024. How do you guys like your set up for tight trails. Looks like the +1 make a good difference from stock. You must love that long travel kit. boosted3g, can you run with stock brake line? You are lucky to have a garage; all I have for the moment is a shed. Thanks for your pics, I will be ordering my Houser on Monday but I am not still sure as for witch kit I will buy. Your reply will sure help me.
