a few budies of mine do this e-v-e-r-y time they go riding in Mississippi. They figured out by accident one time creek riding and now they do it every time the weather is warm enough.

The raptor does it easy, the 400EX throws you over the handle bars violently.

Also TALL, straight paddles work, everything else makes you need to pull the plug...

That water is about 10' deep about 15' behind where he is in that picture.

Thats crazy! I deffinatly wouldnt have the balls to try that, let alone on a quad that costs 5,000 plus!

You can get them wet, you just can't do it a lot.

^^^^

That one now needs a ring job...

haha nice pic.

I tried it once in a huge puddle at the slag pits we ride on one of my older bikes. I wasnt going fast enough to make it the whole way but i skimmed for a few feet before.

what kinda speed or gear is he coming in at?

4th gear 3/4 throttle. If you let off you skip over the handlebars.

It's actually the more pricey KTM 525 that he bought. That thing hauls butt!

Him and a few other friends came out to Little Sahara and we all rode. There wasn't too many quads that could keep up. (99% of the 4-strokes at his dirt)

Enjoy:

He skims with these paddle tires too.

Here's that 700r that you saw skimming in the first photo:

you have to have paddles, try about 6 inches, if it feels like your skimmming you probally are, you'll hear it too, then try about 2-4 feet, if you make it your good to go, start off with a 20 footer and work your way up, raptors are super torqy and can keep the power as they go across

Posted by: Knoxy

i was worried you were going to say that! i dont really have alot of sand riding to do around here unless i make a trip out of it! lol

ill have to wait until that time to get some paddle tires to try it out! lol

sucky!

Yep, from what I've been told by them is that you have to stay in it even.

In the video I saw of them doing it, you could see near the end of one of the longer crossings that the front end started wobbling bad.

On a side note I saw a YouTube video where they had some guy with a 450r.

Here's someone failing at it...lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG0bms3RsUc

Part 2 fail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEDv...feature=related

Never mind, it was streetfire: (he does it on the stock tires)

Water doesn't look too deep though.

yes when you hit the water you feel it, hopefully your in shape and have some type of arm strength, its gonna take a lot out of you if you do long distance, it takes so muscle to hold the bars straight ! i used a 6 straight paddle tires, stock in the front, right before you hit the water try to pull a low high speed wheelie, i hit 3rd wide open on the 660, brought the wheels up just maybe 4-5 inches, it will plain out just hold her open. i'll post vids when im finished with my movie...
